Anxiety Medication

I have been taking Celexa (20 mg) for two weeks now and I don't like how it is making me feel.  Will I have side effects if I just stop taking it?  I have been taking Klonopin as needed.

This time around with the Paxil, I never had the need to take anything with it.  I do have lorezapam (Ativan) in my cabinet, but I haven't needed it.  Although I almost took it on my flight home yesterday.  We were flying through a thunderstorm!  There were and are times I feel anxious but I attributed those feelings to "normal" anxiety.  Like having to give a presentation at work.

Right now I feel I can manage my anxiety without taking anything extra.  When my anxiety becomes bothersome I drink Kava tea and take a hot bath.  When I was suffering from debilitating panic disorder years ago, I took the lorezapam once or twice a day until the Paxil kicked in. My panic attacks this time around were benign compared to those of years ago.  The 12.5mg of PaxilCR has done wonders for me.

I have a good friend who has been on Paxil for years and she takes a Klonopin every night for sleep.  Ask your doc if you can try something else.  Let me know how you are doing.  I hated that not being able to sleep feeling.
Best,
Liv

Thank you for the advice.......that is what I feel like I can't sleep anymore.  Did you have just take the Paxil or anything else with it?

It takes a while for the effects to subside and level out in your system.  I've been on 12.5mg of Paxil for 6 weeks and it took a good month for me to feel back to my old self (without the panic attacks of course!).

However, I did try Celexa years back and it made me feel extremely hyper.  I could not sleep, I was not tired at all.  I didn't like that so I talked to my pdoc and he switched me back to Paxil, which works best for me.

If you don't want to wait to see if you level out after a few more weeks talk to your doctor and see if you can try something else....and NEVER stop taking any medication until you talk it over with your doctor first.
