Also I can see my heartbeat in my chest and upper abdomen, what i mean is i can actually see it moving in time with my heartbeat and this is more noticeable when i'm exercising, has anyone got any ideas on what this could be as i have never noticed this before,,is my heart being overworked?? You have exactly the same symptoms as me! I also had just 2 panic attacks, and the same symptoms as you do .. Even if I'm fine, and watch if it's still there (the heart in my chest and stomach) it's always there! Anxiety is just weird.

Sorry for my bad English, I'm from Holland, so my English isn't that good.

Sorry i forgot to address the weakness in arm, since i'm not a doctor i think you should consult if you haven't been tested recently. It could be something that have nothing to do with your arm and might require a deep investigation if we rule out anxiety is causing this condition.

Oh yeah trust me i have anxiety symptoms and most of us feel not anxious when experiencing the symptoms... Even when i wake up and i feel totally relaxed i can experience the symptoms.

Anxiety is something running into your subconscious and in your conscious mind. So you might be conscious that you are not anxious but your subconscious mind is telling your body another story. That's why so many people don't think they have anxiety and run to the emergency room.

Anxiety is a very complicated disorder and you might need to address this issue with talk therapy. Also like i said above, physical activity and healthy diet is very important for a healthy body-mind.

Hope this can make you understand anxiety a bit more.

I sometimes find that my arms particularly my left arm feels weak, tingly numb and heavy, so my question is are heavy/numb arms a symptom of anxiety or is this something that needs to be adressed? :\ Also if your not feeling anxious/depressed is it still possible to suffer anxiety symptoms? i,e, nausea, dizzyness etc

If you have general anxiety the diagnose can be accurate. Panic attacks can happen rarely with people suffering from anxiety or they can happen often.

The good news if that you seem to have panic attack under control but it doesn't mean you don't have anxiety disorder.

Seeker 83 thanks for the comment, another question i forgot to ask is i've only ever suffered from 1 panic attack which lasted for 10 minutes and after this i've never had one again. So my question if if you've only ever had 1 panic attack is this still classed as anxiety/panic disorder? This is what my doctor and specialists have diagnosed me with...

It isn't un-normal to see your heartbeat.  This is just how your body works, you can see that your body is actually functioning properly.  Anxiety can definitely speed the rate at which your heartbeat beats, but isn't terribly bad for you.  This is natural, anxiety is natural and once you begin to comfort and acknowledge your anxiety and let it work throughout your body(accepting it), it is then that you will learn how to better control yourself and hence your anxiety.  Anxiety is a natural reaction to feeling uncomfortable.  Learn why you are feeling uncomfortable and teach yourself that things will be ok, because what is the worst thing that could happen?  Make a real assumption of your situation in anxious times and acknowledge yourself and your feelings.  Know that nobody is a judge over you but yourself..

Hello there,

I'm glad to head your anxiety is a bit better now and that you don't needed the medication for a long time.

It's normal to notice your heart beat by visually looking at your chest. It has been like this all your life but you just never noticed it since you were not paying attention and you we're not having anxiety at the time ( also anxiety can make your heart beat increase and/or pump harder.

People with anxiety will start to develop a kind of compulsive obsessive comportment of always looking at their body and notice everything that appears to be not normal but in fact it is and maybe it always been there. Like a lump that always been there under your bicep but you never noticed it because you weren't paying attention when you were anxiety free since you had better thing to do rather than overwatching your body.

Anxiety is considered to be a normal reaction to stress. It may help a person to deal with a difficult situation, for example at work or at school, by prompting one to cope with it. When anxiety becomes excessive, it may fall under the classification of an anxiety disorder. It is closely related with OCD ( obsessive–compulsive disorder ). Since you mentioned often looking at your body and reactions please try to not fall into OCD comportement

Anxiety can be accompanied by physical effects such as heart palpitations, fatigue, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath, stomach aches, or headaches. Physically, the body prepares the organism to deal with a threat. Blood pressure and heart rate are increased, sweating is increased, bloodflow to the major muscle groups is increased, and immune and digestive system functions are inhibited (the fight or flight response). External signs of anxiety may include pale skin, sweating, trembling, and pupillary dilation. Someone suffering from anxiety might also experience it as a sense of dread or panic.

There are many drug-free option to treat anxiety permanently.

Physical activity is on top of my list since it will make you body produce a lot of hormones that are actually needed for healthy body and mind. Healthy diet should always be complementary to physical activity since your body will need more supply to make your body and mind operate properly.

On a final word i could suggest you luminotherapy. Luminotherapy means light therapy and usually involves half-hour sessions in front of a bright lamp (10 000 lux), specially adapted to treat seasonal depression. The principle is simple: light exposure slows down melatonin production, fighting sleepiness and depression. The light reaches the brain through the retina of the eye, as nerve impulses, to alter hormone levels, which in turn reset your body clock and boost your immune system. Some doctors and health farms offer luminotherapy as a treatment, but there are also special lamps on the market for home use.

Hope all this will help you dealing with your anxiety. Consult you doctor if you are interested in any of the suggestions i proposed to you.

Best regards,
M4
