Anxiety??

When I start falling asleep, my heart goes into overdrive!! It beats so fast sometimes, I feel shivers!! I force insomnia sometimes to avoid it. Docs all say it's anxiety, but when I'm awake during the day, I'm light headed and my stomach hurts, and sometimes I'll get hungry and while I'm eating, I'll get nauseas. Now, that the rapid heart beats are dwindling, I'm now experiencing a feeling of my heart beating too slow!! I get the sensation of fainting when I fall asleep. When I wake up, I feel shortness of breath, and prickly feeling in my hands and feet and sometimes my feet will sweat!! I've experienced these episodes before, about 2 years ago. I've been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at that time too, only to have the diagnosis retracted due to my spine healing so well. They told me MS patients don't do this. They told me that I had an attack of myelitis instead. Could I be experiencing  a reaction to another spinal infection? I can't find any doctors that will help me. They all keep trying to give me Lorazepams!! And I refuse to take them due to the maniacal side effects they give me, such as severe nightmares (waking up screaming), hallucinations, heart palpitations, etc... Don't know what to do!! Does this sound like a typical anxiety attack to anyone??!! *Confused, bewildered, and just want to go to sleep!!!

Let's let the doctors decide.  If the new med solves the problem be thankful she isn't experiencing anxiety.  Lorazepam should have helped if it was all anxiety.

I know you say you dont have anxiety, but as someone who's struggled with it for years, your symptoms sound identical.

Just know that its nothing to be ashamed of, and there is good help.

I very much reccomend you look up some mindfulness techniques, they are amazing for falling asleep. I now go to sleep calmly and completely. try lifehut.com and Jon Kabitt-Zinn (sp?) mindfulness. It calms the mind and body and is woonnddeerrful. Also pay attention you are breathing from your abdomen, in 4 out 4. it is so hard to not completely turn our focus inward and create alot of suffering, Eckhart Tolle writes excellent books on mindfulness as well. Good luck, we are all on this journey together. The people that answer alot on this forum have alot of insight to offer and i have found their advice most helpful. We have to be willing to put in the time and effort to achieve peace but it can be done and is worth it.
