The thing is if you suffer with fibromyalgia, you already suffer from sleep disruption due to tender points on your body. There is no cure for this condition. Individuals with fibro become very anxious due to this sleep disruption and pain. I know I had to learn to 'accept it' rather than use drugs which gave me addiction problems on top of the fibro. But to each his own and what path they want to take.
Ativan is great for acute anxiety. I took it for a month to calm me down and help me sleep. I was concerned i would get hooked on it. I am happy to say it worked well for me and i now take it maybe once or twice a month. (.5)
If you already suffer from fibromyalgia which in itself causes sleep disruption, then taking a benzo might make things worse. That short half life can lead to shakiness and other rough symptoms. From my own experiences and a fms sufferer as well, I'd stay away from benzos and other sleeping pills. I had to learn the hard way hence why I hang out in these forums.
I have taken it before with good results. Just remember that it is a pretty potent benzo with a short half life. It can become extrememly addictive over time and is usually prescribed for a shorter term on an as needed basis. As with any medication, it all affects us in different ways, but I had a good experience with it. These types of medications are not 'cure alls' by any means but can help when you start talk therapy to learn about and confront your anxiety. Keep us posted!
