PSTD is not fun and I hope you're lucky enough to get some therapy for it.

As for different medications, if your anxiety/PSTD is so bad to the point where you cannot function, it might be best to find another SSRI.

However, if your anxiety is just persistant and hovering, you could try alternative medicines such as ST Johns Wort, 5-HTP, Valerian, etc.

What kind of allergic reaction did you have to the medication?

Hi Janis I was first put on diazapam in1998, I have most recently been weaned off diazapam, I was also on prozac for which i had allergic reactions to. I am now not on anything at all but i feel that i should still be on something to stop my anxiety. So I am trying to find out if there is any alternative medication that I could take for my anxiety.

Hi paul,
You dont say if your on any meds now? how long were you on valium,(diazapam) as this is not a drug you come of quickly you have to wean of it, let us know how your feeling in yourself and if the doc has given you anything to replace the drugs you were on and then we can take it from there,
Janis.
