You know this is obsessive behavior.  Obsessions can be controlled.  Can you get out of your home and take a short walk? Anything to distract you from your body problems?  Upbeat music helps me.  I get in my car and crank up a CD.  And then there is talking!!!

Glad you are talking to us ..your virtual therapy group!  Most of us have had rational behavioral therapy (RBT is how you may see it referred to here).  Retraining the mind to combat irrational overly emotional reactions to life's events..Whew, long sentence with big words..LOL.

Remember we discussed hypochondria in a previous post.  I told you it can be addressed with great success in therapy.  I believe you do see a psychiatrist.  The one who mentioned that two beers a night might relax your mind, as you were drinking far more each day before starting into treatment.

To answer your question: I never take my blood pressure or think about my pulse.  As long as I can get out of bed and drive to the stores, I'm good.  My sis tried to get me to buy a cuff, and I just said 'no''.  She was concerned as she heard nurse read my kinda high numbers during a doctor's visit.

Doctor's offices always check it when I go in for anything, and mine does shoot up then: 'white coat syndrome'.  It plunged (haha...sounds like I'm discussing the stock market now)  when I fainted after my son's memorial.  But was fine by the time I left ER.

Take care and keep up the good work.

i worry like you, ive always had low bp it runs in my family, really we should think ourselves lucky that its not high, we're at less risk of heart attack and stroke too, ive had 8 or more ecgs thinking theres something wrong with my heart and i know the docs are right by saying im fine but so anxious, i hope they can find a miracle pill for this

Go with the flow, buddy.  Your doc knows you.  Focus.  Listen to what he is telling you; blot out all the other opinions.  I know what labels say too, but your doc has been treating you for some time, and knows the full story.  I've done a few things that weren't officially sanctioned and no problem.   I paid attention to my ally: the doc who knew me and my life and nervous system.

I'd ask myself what I am afraid of? Most of us here are afraid of new medications.  Very common reaction when doc suggests a change.  Since beer has been a regular part of daily routine for you until you stopped drinking 2 1/2 yrs ago, doc must think that it will make you feel 'back to normal'.

I can't comment of pain except to say I have it in shoulder (arthritis) and head and jaw (sinus and arthritis again).  Can you loosen up the shoulder pain with heat, ice and shrugs or other easy exercises?

You don't need to be confused.  Just make a decision.  If the beer is too much physically and mentally, you'll stop.  You are in control.

Anxiety over heart health can is quite common in this community. My original experience with anxiety was due to concerns with my heart. You did the right thing by getting checked out by your cardiologist but now it is time to believe him/her in my opinion. My bp can fluctuate a lot as well. In fact it has gone much higher when iam nervous and bp can drop when we are relaxed.

Are you currently receiving any counseling for you anxiety?

Yes I have always chekt my bp since I starded my anxiety. It's like im obsessed about it. Sometimes my bp goes up it shoots up like around 150/100 or 140/90 and it use to go up like around 170/103 wen I use to go with an anxiety attck to the hospital. But once at home it goes bak to normal like 110/60 or 120/70. I  bought a blood pressure machine and I think I got phased about it. But I. Head everyone's blood pressure goes up with an attack or stress.
