Burning sensation

I was wondering if anybody has experienced any burning sensations in there chest. I've experienced a traumatic experience last night. Family physically fighting each other. Very traumatic and panic provoking. For those who know me know that I am an anxiety/panic victim as well. All the crying and screaming and hyper ventilating I did I thought I was going to pass out. This morning I woke up and when I stood up I feel a burning sensation in my chest. Cant tell if it's actually my chest or my breasts. It's on both sides. Has anybody ever experienced this? A weird sensation like burning, but only happens when I stand up after laying down. Can someone please tell me what this could be?

You said you have a bad gallbladder. How does that feel? And what should I look for? I get this weird pain/sensation sometimes right in the middle of my upper stomach, right where my ribs start. Could it be my gallbladder?

I'm certainly not happy to hear you also have the burning, but I AM relieved that it appears I'm no longer alone with this nasty affliction! I'd never really assoaciated it with anxiety before, I just knew it scared me..........especially when it seemed no doctor could tell me what it was. When the gastroenterologist gave my various pipes and tubes a clean bill of health, then suggested I see my cardiologist, I was really freaked out. When he gave me a fairly clean bill of health, I didn't know where else to turn, which is when I decided I would just live with the damn thing. One thing that I notice now is that when I get really stressed out and I'm running around like a chicken without a head, especially at work, I sometimes get a bout of it then. Also if I get angry, I will sometimes feel it. So that leads me to believe that my emotional state has something to do with it. Both those emotions would create acid, so I've probably DX'd myself! It never happens when I'm just sitting around relaxing.............I'm either running my rear off, (stressed) working in the yard, (bending over alot) or feeling angry....especially at work where all three of those conditions come into play. I think it was my PCP who wrote a script for Protonix or one of those acid reducers, but I never got it filled. I think I'll try that now and see if that relieves these symptoms. You said you get a feeling of being short of breath when it happens, I'm not sure if that happens to me. When I'm at work, I'm usually running like mad (I work in a hospital) so that would explain the out of breath feeling there and while I'm doing yard work, I go at it like I'm killing snakes! But when it does happen and I stop, I don't feel like I'm out of breath..........perhaps a bit winded from whatever activity I've been doing, but I never feel like I can't get enough air. (I'm also a smoker, but please, no lecture!)
I would like to hear more about the situations where this happens to you.
I really can't tell you how relieved I am!
Maybe there are more of us than we know! Hope they chime in!

Yes, Yes, Yes..... I know exactly how you feel. I get waves of burning through my chest, and often it feels like I am short of breath with it. I was really scared about it at first, but now i know its anxiety, I try not to focus on it so much. I do have acid reflux and also a really bad gallbladder, which can both cause the burning. Sometimes I have heartburn so bad that my chest is really sore when I wake up in the morning. Keep in mind that anxiety can make acid refulx much much worse. Originally, I thought it was my heart, and I had a billion tests done, but nope just acid.

It sure sounds like some kind of crazy reverse reflux! Especially since it goes away so quickly, just like mine. What did you eat the night before and how late did you eat it? I've gotten to the point that I can't seem to tolerate anything with tomato sauce. Which is a real bummer because Italian food is at the top of my list!
I think you're idea is a good one.........just watch for this and if it happens again, make some mental notes about what you've eaten, time of day it happened, what you were doing when it happened and then talk with your doc. I doubt it's anything to worry about. I've pretty much given up worrying about mine since nobody seems to have a clue and I'm tired of spending gobs of money to be told to see yet another doctor who probably won't have a clue either. If it kills me, I'll let you know!

Really glad to hear it was a scuffle amongst the "boys" and not what I thought!
Hope your husband had a good long talk with the nephews!

Keep well!

Thanks for your response. It hasn't happened again. It just happened today for the first time and only happened the first couple of times I got out of be this morning to use the bathroom but went away in just a few seconds. Don't know what the heck it was but if it happens again I'll see my doctor.
To let you about my home environment, this kind of thing NEVER happens. It happened last night between my husband and my two nephews. My nephews had too much to drink and that is the blame for the whole blow out. My children and I aren't in any physical danger at all. But thank you so much for your concern.
I'll keep you posted.

Doesn't sound like a real healthy home environment your living in! Does this kind of thing happen often? If so, I would certainly consider some heavy-duty therapy and perhaps a move! Are you in any real physical danger? I see you're holding a baby..........one can only pray this physical abuse does not extend to him/her!

But you didn't ask for advice about your home life. You asked about a burning in your chest. I get a very similar sensation, but for me, it's just the opposite. I don't get it when I stand up, I get it when I either lay down or am bending over doing yard work or even sweeping the floor. I saw my PCP who agreed that my reflux was no doubt the culprit, but I'd never had the burning that spread out on both sides of my chest, just above each breast and sometimes would extend to the upper, underside of both arms. She suggested I see a gastroenterologist for a scan, which I did and he found nothing. He sent me to my cardiologist who sent me for some incredibly expensive tests, but aside from finding some plaque in my arteries, he could not give me an explanation for the burning, he said it was not related to my heart. He suggested I see a gastroenterologist! LOL So who the hell do I see now? The witch doctor?
When I get this burning sensation, if I stand up straight, it will totally disappear in a few seconds, which leads me to think it is just the reflux. Why it would happen to you when you stand up is a bit of a mystery. Reflux just doesn't work that way to the best of my knowledge. I may be wrong, so my advice would be to see your doctor and let them know about this sensation. It MAY be possible that if you have reflux, when you're lying down for some reason it doesn't bother you, but when you stand up and all that acid heads back into your stomach, that may be producing your burning sensation. That is a toatal GUESS on my part. If you feel any pain (besides the burning) or feel lightheaded or dizzy, I wouldn't waste any time in getting to an ER. Far better to feel a bit foolish than the other option!
Take care and let us know how you're doing, OK?
Peace
