If it were only that simple, In Canada we are given a psychiatrist and you do not have the option of changing. I have no idea what medication is causing what and 3 Dr's that just put their hands up in the air and so what do you want us to do about it. I'm out there on my own. Depression is getting to be a problem because of no support.
Cymbalta can be stimulating because it in part targets norepinephrine, which can increase anxiety in some people (though it reduces it in others). Remeron, on the other hand, is very sedating for many people, and could increase the activity of your fibromyalgia. snris are very hot right now for fibromyalgia sufferers, but since that's a weakening condition and since it causes emotional problems on its own, it's tough on the system to have to fight that and the weakening effects of some meds. Which is a long way to say, you should get a better psychiatrist but also see somebody who practices integrative medicine if possible because of that fibromyalgia problem who better understands its interaction with meds.
Did the benzo's help? Were you taking them as-needed, or on a schedule?
I used Buspar 10 years ago and got off ativan and my anxiety went away. I was on Zyprexa at the beginning and yes it caused a big weight gain.
I have been on Ativan for a year and a half. My history is long and I think I posted it a couple of times on this site and on the fibromyalgia site. Been through a lot, am tapering slowly off the Ativan but am exchanging to Valium to make the process slower. I'm dizzy all the time, have severe ringing in my ears, cervical disc surgery and severe fibromyalgia pain. Was overdosed on a drug that almost killed me. I'm not good at going out but do anyway. Have a psychiatrist but he's not very good and am seeing a psychologist once a week. He didn't like the idea of Buspar either, takes 60 mg to work. He seems to think my antidepressant should get rid of the anxiety (Cymbalta and Remeron) but it's not. Any help?
I tried Buspar, and it was pretty worthless. I've heard some people say that it really helped them, but most studies show otherwise.
Buspar was useless to me. Tried it in conjunction with my Klonopin. It made me dizzy.
Zyprexa for Anxiety. Huh? Are you just pulling these drugs out of your behind? or where are you getting ideas about these drugs for anxiety treatment?
Anyway, I tried Zyprexa long ago too, and I discontinued mostly due to weight gain I believe.
Personally, I am not a fan of EITHER of those meds for the treatment of anxiety. Zyprexa is an anti-psychotic and can be used as an adjunct treatment (along with an antidepressant) in treatment of depression and anxiety that hasn't responded well to just an antidepressant. Again, just in my humble opinion, I think there are better options out there, especially to START with.
Have you tried any other medication? Therapy? How long have you had anxiety issues? Have you been officially diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, preferrably by a psychiatrist?
If you could give us a little history, we could give you some guidance.
