Hey hun,
firstly hands off to you for going to fight for your country, you're a brave man.
Do you know what I think? is this is all panic related, but I think perhaps this goes deeper here. I think you may have 'shell shock', perhaps the smell you always smell has something to do with a smell you smelt when you were out in iraq? something which disturbed you? if so, I think you should do to a phsycologist and get him to talk to you, perhaps even a mild hypnosis session could get to the bottom of this. To put your mind at rest go and see a neurologist to for a test, so you don't feel anxious about it. I'm no doctor but that's what I think.
I suffer from panic attacks myself, i'm having one at the min and it's horrible, and they're scary, but they're not dangerous :) I too feel like i'm loosing it sometimes, but I keep telling myself it's my mind playing up. Anxiety feeds on fear, so best thing you can do, is do something you enjoy to relax yourself, coming on here and talking is a good idea too =).
hope u feel better. Laura x
Was you exsposed to anything?
I agree with bbq33, this isnt typical anxiety, sounds like a "reaction" to something "Physical"
Those don't sound like panic attack symtoms. I would see a nuroligist and get checked out for other dieseses.
