Can anxiety cause groin/testicle pain?

Long story short.  I have had bouts with anxiety in the past, always presenting as pain in some part of the body.  The first time I experienced it was a stressful time in my life and it was started in the neck; other times I have had stomach pains; now more recently I came down with urological symptoms.  Have been to the urologist for the exams, antibiotics, and the fact is bacteria is never found.  I do wonder how much damage I have done to myself due to antibiotics I probably never needed.  Now pain is back very strong in groin or testicle (can't even really tell where it comes from). Urologist found nothing remarkable.  I am under a lot of stress and it is now seeming to me that this could be yet another manifestation of my old friend anxiety!  Anybody else have the same experience?

The main question is this -  is stress causing testicular pain ?or is testicular pain causing stress.?   I have similar symptoms.  Pain in testicles that come and goes and pain in stomach that comes and goes as well as dizziness and sleeplessness.   I feel like it’s probably a stress issue.  But with that being said.   Bacterial prostatis cannot be detected by a blood test.  I feel like that uncertainty about what’s going on in one’s body can causes stress and anxiety and the things that the things that go with that.

I have had this exact same thing. You have done your tests and so did I. Doctors found nothing and I had to find out the answer for myself. And here already was a good answer that your testicles retract sometimes when in fight or flight without you noticing it. Also anxiety causes you to tense your muscles as in fight or flight you are holding on for dear life. What happens is your pelvic muscles tighten so much that they cant relax and you become numb to it. Then when they stay tight it causes pain in the testicles, lower back, the groinal area. Pretty much your lower body hurts even your stomach. Loosening up your pelvic muscles with various stretches helps. Also just noticing when your muscles tighten up because of anxiety. You need to learn to relax the body.

Sorry forgot to mention all bloods have been normal.
The fact it's not a bacterial infection doesn't mean it isn't something.  Could be a pinched nerve or referred pain from you lower back or your hips or even your neck or even how you're sitting or sleeping.  Not saying that's what it is, just saying if it's not what shows up in blood tests doesn't mean it might not be something structural and still not caused by anxiety.

Here is my theory... did you ever go outside when it was cold? Notice what happens to your body. It clenches up and it is stressed. Notice , if you are a man, what happens to your testicals..they retract upward into your body..this is very stressful and if you conscously feel what your body tends to unconciously do you're going to realize it is your thinking patterns(not necessarily the cold) which you to strain the attachments that  the testicles as you unconciously clench them up into the stomach. This explains the soreness, inflamation and fatigue in the testicals and its whole attachment up into the lower stomach. MY CURE.. Sit and relax for an hour a day while conciously allowing your testicals to hang at thier lowest point relaxed. This can be done with deep breaths expanding into the lower stomach.  hopefully in time you will learn to pay attention to your body and how it feelswhen dealing with a stressful mindset.

Well, anxiety can cause a variety of symptoms, and they are different for everyone.  My guess would be that you do have some sort of physical pain, but the anxiety could be causing you to be oversensitized to it.

You have been to a Urologist, which is a good thing, and while you have been tested for infections, have they ever done an ultrasound, or CT Scan? Or MRI? If not, I would suggest that you ask for some more definitive testing, to see if there is something that they missed.  I would also ask for thorough labwork, if they haven't already done it, including a PSA. (lab test for the prostate...which I bet they have already done).

Many times, a pulled muscle in the groin area can cause pain that lingers for a while, and while it is harmless, it is certainly annoying, and would cause you to be focused on it.  Also, pain in the groin area can cause referred pain to the back, and vice versa...therefore, you could have had a lower back strain that is causing residual pain.

Our bodies are designed to send out pain signals when something is wrong, however, that "something" doesn't always have to be something serious or life threatening.  I would continue working with your doctor, and perhaps even get a 2nd opinion from a different Urologist, JUST to rule anything out.  If everything still turns out okay, perhaps ask your doctor to treat you for a muscle strain, and see if that helps.

I wouldn't worry about any kind of long-term issues from the antibiotics.  The biggest problem with over-use of antibiotics is bacteria that becomes resistant to antibiotics.  Not that that ISN'T a concern, but there are always other antibiotics, and if you should develop some sort of resistant bacterial infection in the future, a culture would be performed which actually lists the organism, and which antibiotics would be effective in treating that infection.

Let us know how you're doing!  Best of luck!
