Does Paxil work a second time?

I have read a fair bit of conflicting information on the internet. Some seem to claim that Paxil may not work very well the second time around. Is this true? I came of paxil about 9 days ago substitiuting it for Prozac. I took Paxil for about 8 months and it worked well for anxiety but due to financial reasons wanted to try Prozac. However, I think Paxil is the one for me so I want to start taking it again. Is there any evidence to suggest it won't work for me as well as before?

I've heard the same thing, but it's working fine for me this second time around.  I was on it 2004-2005.  Just started it back up again 6 weeks ago.  I also have a friend who has been on and off for a long while.  Works for her too.

It worked fine for me second time but I did have different (more noticeable) side affects the second time. They did settle down in the end. Either way, I don't think 8 days off it is long enough to count as a true "second" time for you.

I am taking Paxil for the 2nd time.  I was on it for 5 years and then stopped this past Feb.  Was off for 1.5 months, tried other meds, and decided Paxil was the one for me that I needed to be on.  I have been on it 2.5 weeks now.  I have not had any panic attacks, but I take Klonopin as needed.  My side effects have included:  no sex drive and nervousness.  Not very fun, but I'm trying to hang in there.

I sure hope it works a second time.  I was on it for YEARSSS and I switched last August to some different meds that didn't work and now I started Paxil again last week so I hope it works as well as it used to.

I am a two timer with Paxil also....it worked and is working fine...BOTH times!

I am having headaches though.  Could this be from the Paxil?  It didn't happen the last time I took it but I have been having headaches this time.

It could be that your having headaches this 2nd time around b/c of the Paxil.  The first time I was on Paxil I had no side effects but that was at age 24.  I'm 29 now and I feel the side effects definately this time around.

I was on paxil for almost ten years and it pooped out.i tryed everything els and nothing has worked..so iam trying it again..im so nervous it wont work this time.

Paxil was a life-changer for me first time around back in 2005. This is my 2nd time & after 3 months I feel it is not working as well as the first time. Seven years ago the 'feel good serotonin high' was almost euphoric - no exaggeration. This time the feeling is MUCH more muted & working only about 70% as well. This seems to be a common occurrence with ssri's apparently not working so good the 2nd time.
