Should take the dose that doc prescribed you to.
What ur dose I have quit 50 times I not joking..ill get u threw this..
I really admire that you want to decrease the amount you want to take of Xanax! Good for you and excellent! I would talk to the doctor that prescribes them. Slowly titrating down can often delay any type of withdrawal. They do make pill cutters you can get at the drug store but any type of modification you make to your medication should really be supervised by a doctor to be safe! Let us know how it goes.
First, are you doing this under the care of your psychiatrist? Cutting your benzo intake if you've been taking it daily -- you don't say how often you take it -- can throw you into having withdrawal symptoms. Now, it probably won't, but it can, and so you do want to taper down maybe more slowly because of that, say, taking a lower dose one day and your regular dose the next for a couple of weeks before you go down for good. Just a thought. As for the rest, how old are you? Please don't take this the wrong way, but if you can't divide, find someone who can teach you basic math. It will help you taper off meds. You're taking 1mg and you want to take half a milligram. If you can't figure that out then you need to talk to someone who knows how to divide. And another thing -- you really can't cut a small benzo into four equal pieces (hint -- four pieces isn't half of one piece). You can cut them in half, because they're usually scored in the middle for that purpose. Have you talked to your psychiatrist about this?
