Nonsense mind chatter / internal dialogue

Does anybody else get this when they're particularly anxious? It's like very small snatches of background nonsense created by your subconscious that come out of nowhere, usually indistinct chatter. I imagine it's created by my OCD tendencies (I also have music running through my head most of the time) but it makes me nervous because I'm particularly fearful of developing schizophrenia. It doesn't tend to be present when I'm busy or not focusing on my mind.

I suffered from ocd for 7 years now ...let me tell u  ocd can cause so many symptoms not only physically but mentally ... Especially if u been in high stress ocd period ..it can make u see things or hear things over analyze everything ...which causes u more anxiety ...I've had so many different ocd fears and one of them is what if this what if that ... Never ends ...my best advise is to really educate ur self on ocd and how ur brain works when u have ocd ..that really helps ... Most important try eating a healthy diet ..natural supplements can also help u ...are hearing actuall voices ? Or just random anxiety thoughts

Hi, this happens to me, too. Try to handle the issue without hard medications.  Lately, I'm trying mindful practice which greatly helps. Try to observe your mind all the time, in particular you are anxious.  This is not easy however, over time this gets a habit. You will see an improvement sooner. Good luck!

Also please know your not developing schiz, this is so common for OCD. OCD causes exactly what you are talking about. So rest at ease, you are not getting schiz but I totally understand why you would fear or think that. I did too when all this came on to me.

Man I have something similar. I was diagnosed with OCD and GAD and struggle daily with thoughts I can't shut off in my head. It's DEBILITATING!! It makes my life hell. It brings on severe anxiety that grows into a panic attack. I take 200mg of Zoloft and 2mg risperdal and Ativan twice daily as needed. The Ativan stops all these in it's tracks when it starts to come on. I take my dose and get busy doing something to change my thought pattern. I hope this helps in some way. Also if you don't want to go the med rout, try shocking yourself by taking an ice cold shower, the sensation helps turn your thoughts to the freezingness and away from the OCD thoughts.
