Good from effexor?

Does anyone have anything good to say about effexor? All I read everywhere is how bad it is. I'm scared to take this med, but it's the only one that has worked in the past for my GAD. Please help

i dont know where i would be without Effexor xr      It helps so much !!!!!        I take 150 mg day        My mind has never been more clear and i am able to focus and deal with difficult situations like never before.        although I prefer the natural approcah,  sometimes we just get tired of fighting.   Good luck

If it worked before it will again.  This is the best indicator of how a medication will affect you. What one experiences may not be your's, because we all respond differently to these types of medications.  Don't go by all the horror stories because the success stories far outnumber the bad. Unfortunately we only hear about the bad experiences, people who have found success in a medication have no complaints so they have no reason to post about it. You have a track record of it helping you, take it so you can feel better.  Take care.

Well if it worked for you ,then take it ,alot of people read stuff and freak themselves out so bad they suffer instead,so ask yourself ,gad ,or no gad?Dont read 50 things and have 50 different reasons to not do something to make yourself feel better,im sure on different sites there were different thing, side affects arent whats gonna happen to you,its is a study, where 100 people take something and these where the most common side effect for a percentage of people, doent mean you ,did you have those probs before??

I, personally, like Effexor.  After being on Effexor XR for about 7-8 years, my psychiatrist switched me to Pristiq (which is Effexor Lite) last year because it was cheaper for me to get than the Effexor was.  I can tell you this, it is the best medication for me.  I'd been on Prozac, Paxil, Celexa, Zoloft, and some old-school MAOI's.  But nothing, nothing, worked as well as the Effexor for my anxiety disorder.  It does take a while to work, if I recall correctly, and I never had all the side effects that everyone else seems to have.  Also, I know that my quality of life goes way down when I'm not on Effexor/Pristiq, so...  I can't remember why we tried to switch me from Effexor to Paxil or Celexa, I think I saw a new doctor or something.  I never had any withdrawal issues either, thank God.  I just did what the doctors said and I was fine.  I personally will always be a fan of this drug!  Jen
