Hi I was offered Diazepam 10mg tablets pretty much as and when I wanted them to help deal with them and they made me feel on top of the world and I didn't have 1 anxiety attack whilst I was on them then all of a sudden they was taken away so I got worse and self medicated myself and ended up where I am today mine started at 18 through smoking weed for several years every day and a hell of alot of it to thats whats caused them
Thank you so much I will definitely give it a look and see what its all about mine came on at 18 years old 1 week after I stopped smoking weed after several years and I am talking very very stupid ammounts daily I started with chest pains and was admitted to hospital with a suspected heart attack and thinking back I didn't panic or care to be honest until I got them every day for almost 7 years I need to beat them more than anything they stop me getting a job no employer would understand that now and again I may need to take a break and get my head together its very hard
Well I can tell you that I also have panic and anxiety and recently another wonderful member here referred me to a website and I can tell you it has been so helpful.
I have traditional counseling and EMDR and therapy all to which I was never comfortable at all. Every situation is different but I found that at home when able to read on my own what the CBT is way better. I think if you give it a shot it is successful and keep away from self medicating in any form as it is only a temporary fix to and only gets you deeper into addiction.

Hi there. CBT has been shown to be extremely effective in treating a variety of conditions including drug abuse, phobias and most anxiety disorders. As you alluded to in your post, CBT is a recallibration of sorts. It can teach you how to deal with irrational fears through a variety of methods and not just sitting in a room and talking about it.
Medicating anxiety is a symptomatic treatment and does nothing to address the underlying causes. CBT should help to identify the things that trigger anxiety attacks and offer several methods of mitigating the severity of each attack as they occur. Many countries offer CBT as the preferred treatment and only ever medicate when all other efforts have failed. CBT offers a true solution rather than the band aid approach of prescription anxiolytics.
There is an anxiety community here on med help and i would encourage you to investigate the efficacy of CBT for yourself there. Im sure there will be others who share your reservations but have found relief through CBT.
Anyways.All the best Regards Jeremy
