Health Anxiety or am I really sick?!!!

I have had anxiety issues for a few years now. I had unprotected sex 8 weeks ago and have had 2 negative hiv test results. I am experiencing night sweats, diarrhea everday, bleeding in between periods, and I feel like I know there is something wrong! My doctor thinks it's all related to anxiety. Can health anxiety really create ALL these symptoms or could I be really sick? :(

I had the same thing, when my anxiety first started I was literally on my period for three months straight. I was freaking out, I went to the doctor too many times to count, went to the ER more than once, and had every test known to man done. Everything came back fine, and my doctor said it was all caused by my anxiety. It's hard to believe it can do so many physical things to a person, but it can. Stress can cause all sorts of hormonal changes which can affect everything, especially your period.

Thanks Sammy, I just now got out of the hospital because of this.....they ran every test you could think of. Blood test, std tests, urine, cat scan, EVERYTHING......and it was all normal. I can't believe my anxiety has created all these symptoms and make me feel like I have something seriously wrong. I feel better already having a bit more peace of mind but still feel I'm still a bit out of control.

Hi, I to suffer from server anxiety problems and have for 6 years now. You cab get all kinds of symptoms even ones that you wouldn't expect. The night sweats are a big sign of anxiety I get them every night and anxiety can cause diarea but I have never had the bleeding between periods bit. But I suppose that it could be the stress causing you to bleed anxiety is the most stressful thing and worse when the doctors put everything you ever get down to anxiety, its like if they know you suffer from it they don't even bother to check if there really is something wrong. My advise would be to ask for a blood test that should pretty much show most things up and to not worry to much. good luck with everything and hope you can overcome your anxiety. Sammy x
