Healthy anxiety and Stomach issues.

Earlier this month I had a really bad sinus infection. I was given 2 shots, one antibiotic and one steroid. After that, I was given antibiotics and an oral steroid to take. Few days in I develop a case of diarrhea. Didn't think much of it as antibiotics could be the cause. But after 2 weeks of taking it, I can barely use the bathroom. My stool appears to have mucus in It, along with some slight constipation. I immediately ran to Dr. Google and Webmd. Needless to say, I think I have cancer now. Health anxiety *****. Like being a prisoner of my own body.

Let's start with goggling symptoms............NEVER a good idea and especially if you know you have health anxiety.

Antibiotics can play hell with your gut and consequently with bathroom issues. Antibiotics, when absolutely necessary are good. But they are also bad. Good because they will kill the bacteria making you sick, but they also kill all the good bacteria as well.

Anytime you must take antibiotics you should also be taking probiotics which replenish your gut with billions of GOOD bacteria. Many people will recommend you eat yogurt, and while the idea behind that is good, in reality, most yogurt does not contain anywhere enough of the good bacterium you need AND it contains too much sugar which basically does nothing but feed the bad bacteria. Go to a health food store and buy a high quality probiotic......it costs more, but it WILL help.

I can pretty much promise you that you do NOT have colon cancer. Your symptoms would be much, much different. And no, I'm not going to list those symptoms for you!

Since you are still having these symptoms 2 weeks into your treatment for a sinus infection, I strongly suggest you return to your doctor or clinic and let them know what's going on.

I am not a doctor, but it's possible that the antibiotics you're taking MIGHT be the problem here..........or the steroids. Only a doctor can tell you for sure.

Once you get over this hill, please consider getting into some therapy to help you overcome your health anxiety. It's a terrible way to live. I know.
You're going to be fine, but do see your doctor.

I'm so glad you found us and joined!
We are a VERY supportive group and for those of us suffering with anxiety and/or panic, knowing there are other's going through the same nightmare helps on so many levels.

Are you on any medication for your anxiety?

Before I get off on a rant about therapy, why don't you let us know if you have any specific questions or concerns about the process.

And please, feel free to jump in and respond to questions. It sounds like you've had plenty of experience with our particular demon and there are many people who have no idea what is happening to them. I think you'll be an asset to this forum.
