Hormones and Anxiety

Hi Everyone! I have a question, and I think I may know the answer, but need some reassurance anyhow.

I have been doing really great these last few weeks, and then last night and today, I am feeling nervous and tired. I guess the only thing I can think of is that I began my period (sorry boys, overshare), and perhaps the hormones in my system are amping up my anxiety. As I said, I have been feeling good, and feel that I have no reason to feel anxious today, this is all I can think of. Currently, I take 10mg of Lexapro, and 1.5mg of Ativan a day. I would like to cut out the Ativan, but I recently started a new job, which is stressful enough. So I want to be sure I am comfortable there before I start messing with meds.

Anyway, any help would be appreciated as always!!

Kristine

Hormones always up anxiety and depression. I remember, those days. Dr put me on paxil at that time also.

If you just started your new job, i would say to stay on the meds your on until you see how this job affects you. course i am no doctor. but it only makes sense ya know?

Hormones all over the place and new job yikes!.lol You can always adjust the medicine at your next doctors appointment. I am on klonopin now. It does me fine.

Just check with doc first...b/4 changes

Hey there!  I've suffered from panic attacks for 5.5 years and take Paxil 20mg/day for it.  I had never experienced the "anxiety" portion of it until a few months ago, after I quit Paxil, changed meds, and then went back on Paxil.....all while I'm pregnant!!!  I pray to God that this anxiety/nervous/jittery feeling goes away after I give birth.  You're right, it's a yucky feeling, and I take .5 to .75 mg of klonopin daily, too *sigh*.  It has got to be the hormones, right??????

Hi ther i'm a guy but just thought i'd put my 20 cents in, i suffer from bad anxiety and a lot of nausea i have recently been diagnosed with low testosterone levels so i would say your hormones are definately part of the problem.

No, my anxiety started after the clot, I was fine on the pill. I'm sure it is different for everyone, just see how it goes, it may not effect you.

Good Luck!

ugh.. tell me about it!
did it make you more anxious when you were on it?
i kind of dont want to go on it because i dont want to get to a stable point with my anxiety & then have the pill throw my whole system off.

I am not on the pill, I was on the pill, and then I got my bloot clot and the rest is history. I can't be on the pill or add any type of hormone to my body anymore. I also have very painful periods, but I will deal with it. It is better than going through what I went through with the clot.

Fun to be a girl, isn't it :)

i feel the exact same way. i start feeling anxious a week or so and during my period. i increased my dosage of klonopin and still feel anxious so im assuming that its because of my period. i dont get how that all works out but that has to be the reason why, i feel like **** and im so nauseas and nervous.
are you on the pilll? i heard it can make your anxiety worse? im going on it next month due to irregularity and severe cramps but im worried that its going to make my anxiety 10x worse.
