Hot flash reaction to zoloft

Im only on my third dose of zoloft 50mg and after taking the third dose i had severe hot flashes all day. The doctor said he never heard of this reaction before and told me not to take my next dose but im not going to take anymore. Im 35 female and doc prescribed the zoloft for post partum depression but now id rather deal with the depression. Any thoughts?

you have a weird doctor , by hot flashes i presume you mean hot flushes, and he should have known what you meen  its very common,  some doctor play dumb so the patient think I must have made a mistake. that way you don't get put off the med .

First, taking an antidepressant for a hormonal imbalance is, in my opinion, the wrong prescription -- antidepressants don't do anything to bring your hormones into balance.  This will pass with time or you can try to naturally balance your hormones, but if you stay on the Zoloft it can be hard to stop once you're on the antidepressant merry-go-round.   I'd try every non-medication option first, including exercise, meditation, dietary changes, and natural hormone balancing formulas.  Second, your doctor is, as usual, a quack when it comes to medication -- the frequency these morons come up on this site is getting ridiculous.  The sweats and the like are extremely common side effects of antidepressants.
