I get strange feelings sometimes

Sometime when I feel particularly anxious or edgy I'll stare off into a place in the distance (if I'm inside I'll look out the window) and this strange feeling comes over me like the place I'm looking at isn't part of my world and my life, (even though I might have been in that spot before) like I'm in a dream or an outsider looking in. It's a really eerie scary feeling but at the same time it makes me want to go to that place off in the distance to which I'm looking and sometimes I even imagine myself there and that makes me feel even more weird. Does this happen to anyone else?

well yes I have had that happen. It's like I hear them talking but can't register what they are saying right away.

Is this anything like hearing someone talk and knowing what they said but not being able to respond for a moment?

You are probably feeling a form of derealization, which is neurological in origin and can accompany anxiety.

Basically, if I remember how this happens, its a type of delayed perception where you are seeing something, but yet are delayed in your recognition of whatever it is. Sometimes if you are drunk enough, the same can happen.
