I don't know if you can solve this without meds or not. They are certainly difficult, but sometimes they're the only things that work. I just want to make sure whatever you do with meds is done after consulting a psychiatrist you trust knows the upsides and downsides, not a regular doc.
I understand your feeling of not being able to do anything...that was me 10 years ago when I was 14...I wasn't able to go to school, go to restaurants, basically most of public places made me very anxious. Just like you, I am also terrified of meds. My suggestion is to not take meds. I never did and I did overcome most of my anxiety problems. It was not easy but i slowly pushed myself to confront my fears. I've heard of a lot of people saying that meds just made it worst. Anxiety is psychological, that's why my suggestion is to analyze what is going on. What is preventing you from doing things? Breathing techniques and telling myself that my fear was irrational helped me a lot. Also, talking about it to others made me feel better. Like I just said face the situations that provoke the most anxiety in you.
From my personal experience all I can say is that meds are not necessary. Try to avoid them, maybe just therapy could work. Good luck!
Some meds start working within a few minutes and others can take a few weeks. It depends on what you Dr prescribes. This is a decision only you and your Dr can make.
Don't be afraid to see a Dr. Your anxiety is keeping you from doing anything so I think it's time for you to see one.
I also think that counseling would be a good idea. Maybe after seeing one you may not need meds. Or counseling and meds might be what works for you.
You can ask for bloodwork to make sure your not having any other medical problems. They can check your vitamin levels, thyroid levels, cortisol. Actually, that might not be a bad idea to ask for bloodwork. Take care. Remar
