thank you all so much for replying to my post i very much appreciate all your comments. I made a trip away this weekend and it wasnt as bad as i was expecting it to be so my fears arent taking over my life as such at the moment but i do agree that therapy may help!
I am the exact same way. I worry all the time about car accidents, public shootings and even more irrational things like earthquakes and asteroids. I feel like if I talk about them, they may happen, and also I have this weird feeling that because I haven't experienced any of them, I should soon.
You are anything but stupid! You have anxiety which does not subtract so much as a decimal point from our IQ's! The fear you write about, that something bad is going to happen, is a classic symptom of anxiety.
But, since your anxiety is now getting to the point that you do not want to get too far from home says to me that you are inching towards agoraphobia, and that is a place you do NOT want to get to!
As has been suggested here, I, too, would advise you to get into therapy to stop this downward spiral you're on.
You've taken the first major step by writing to us about your issues. Keep that momentum going, stay pro-active in your own mental health. We can listen and offer support, encourgement, sympathy and advice, but at the end of the day, it is YOU who has to take the reigns.
You are strong and intelligent and you can do this.
Please let us know how you're doing, OK? And know that we are always here.
Peace
Greenlydia
I know what you mean but you truly need to talk about it, and this is a good place to do just that. I would look into therapy to get help with this. Take care...
I have irrational fears as well, and like you don't want to talk about them because I think it might happen as well. So, yes I think anxiety does cause this.
