Is vomiting on a date normal?

Hi, I have been dating my girlfriend for 4 months. Despite her living half an hour away, we are both gay, and she is not out to her strict religious parents. Anyways, the first couple times I saw her I was perfectly fine (but I was with friends). The last two dates we were alone, and each time I was gagging. The very last date, I vomited in a tunnel at a mall (how romantic). Right after vomiting, I felt so relieved and I felt like I could run a marathon. I feel SO bad that my anxiety is deteriorating me. Even when we facetime I start to gag, which is? Please brain, stop. Also, a disclaimer, I've had anxiety all my life and nausea isn't something new.

Then your problem is anxiety and this is just one way it manifests itself.  When anxiety gets in the way of your life, it's time for therapy with a psychologist who specializes in anxiety treatment so you can get past this.  And of course all the usual suspects to help you relax -- exercise, meditation, breathing exercises, etc.  You don't say how old you are or how frequent your anxiety problem occurs or how often you get nauseous from it.  You also don't say if you've dated other women and if this happened with them as well, since you mention that she's not out to her parents.  If this doesn't happen often I'd still see a therapist just to prevent this from becoming a chronic thing, but if it's just this woman and never before, there might be something about this one relationship that is triggering a problem you've had in other situations but not in dating situations -- maybe this woman is different -- maybe special -- or maybe you're scared that it might be complicated because of her parental situation.  Maybe it's a warning, in other words, that this is a different situation.  But again, you don't want to go through your whole life getting anxious enough to get sick if it happens more than just occasionally.  Good luck.
