Thanks ur comment helped me alot, its good to know im not crazy even tho I worry constantly that I am. Mine last for more then 5-10 mins sumtimes it lasts all day. Usually is the worst when I first wake up.
What you are describing is known as "derealization." It is defined in the 2011 Steadman's Medical Dictionary as "An alteration in one's perception of the environment such that things that are ordinarily familiar seem strange, unreal, or two-dimensional."
It is also commonly called "depersonalization," which is defined as "A state in which one loses the feeling of one's own identity in relation to others in one's family or peer group, or loses the feeling of one's own reality."
Virtually all of us with anxiety or panic disorders have experienced this at least once, some much more often. It normally doesn't last very long........5-10 minutes, but there have been cases where this horrible feeling last for days.
These episodes do not harm you nor do they mean you're going crazy, have a brain tumor or are suffering a stroke. Theories abound as to what causes them.
I suggest for a better understanding, go to the Mayo or Cleavland Clinics websites and read about them.
If you still have questions/concerns, please post again.
