May I ask what you are on now, I was just switched from celexa to lexapro and it makes me so tired>
How is it going with Lexapro?
Boy, after detoxing from Valium, I think you will be ok on the Lexapro...I really do. It's a really good all around one that works for almost everyone. Take it with a positive attitude and trust that it will help :)
Leila, you have already been on the Lexapro for 3-4 weeks honey, your already through any side effects :) IF they increase your dose you might experience something, but I really doubt it. Side effects are mild (increase in anxiety/depression, headache, tummy ache, restless legs) But when you already start out with those symptoms it's hard to notice it. So don't worry.
Hi there. I didnt even know that lexapro had bad side effects? i am also starting counselling in the next month. I hope it makes a differenc!
i am about to start therapy tomorrow, i am suffering from panic attacks and anxiety, because i have just Deoxing from valium for many years. i was thinking about taking Lexapro, but i am afraid of the side effects. can you tell be if they are really bad?
Thank u all for the comments :) i am starting counselling in the next month or 2 for the anxiety and i am going to give the lexapro a go. I am just always scared of the feelings i get. Like now for example i am typing this on my phone but when i stop to think about my anxiety i get a wierd feeling below my chest and my hole body from my head to my ankles just starts burning and tingling. It's beyond scary! I hate it. Hope i learn to deal and cope with it soon thanks all again! This website and community has made me not feel like i am the only person on this planet who feels this way. :(
U are not alone.they are Some People Who suffer from This including me.I still have to go to the Dr about this.me too I was suffering from panic attack.
I have also had great success with SSRIs like Lexapro. Are you also in counseling for your anxiety? In my experience with it, the combination of medication and therapy really assisted me in confronting and dealing with it on a long term basis. Just like with any challenge we face, the more you know about it, the less daunting it seems. Welcome to the community!
Hello. I was on Lexapro twice and it worked great for my anxiety both times. The last time was for 10 years then it pooped out. I'm currently trying to find another one that works, my anxiety is pretty bad right now. Give the Lexapro a few more weeks, if you feel no relief ask your doc to try something else. In the meantime you could take a low dose benzo such as Ativan for when it really gets bad. My husband travels a lot for work and I hate being here without him when I feel like that so I understand how you are feeling. I find sometimes that talking on the phone is helpful when an attack is coming on. Good luck!
Thanks so much for your comment and concern. I have been on the lexapro now with about 4 weeks but i still get really panicky at night. I dread the night time coming. Thats a really good idea to come on this when i feel one coming along as i mainly go through them on my own :(
Hi Leila,
How long have you been on the Lexapro? While it can take up to 4-8 weeks to reach the FULL effect, some people have felt results much sooner, like within a week. Try to stay calm as you can, Lexapro will kick in soon for you and you will start feeling better. If you start to feel a panic attack come on, you can always get on here and talk to someone as you go through it. I know how terrible panic attacks are....most of us do. I've been going through them daily for almost two months now. Slowly coming out of them. I'm still trying to find the right antidepressant to work for me. By the way, Lexapro was one of the first ones I used, and it worked fabulously for me for 4 years, but the second time I tried it was terrible. So think positive!
