Lexapro and its side effects

How long does the medicine Lexapro stays in my body system?  Since I just took one pill 20mg?

The dreams are definitely the worst part of taking the Lexapro.  I get on it- only 5 mg, and in the morning- after a couple of weeks, the dreams start.  I am afraid to go to bed because I don't know what the dreams will be.  Some are really disturbing.  Then, I go off the Lexapro.  The dreams go away starting ni a couple weeks.  Then, I go back on the lexapro for its intended purpose.  After about two weeks: it happens again, all over.

This could easily be a side effect of the Lexapro. But Lexapro also is supposed to take 2-4 weeks to feel its full effect. Also, I've noticed when taking it, I sometimes have night sweats, vivid dreams, and extra anxiety at first, then it mellows out. Hang in there.

I 've been having anxiety and panic attacks for 3 years and my doctor finally put me on Lexapro 15mg. I took 1 pill and threw up 5 times that night. I was actually taken to the hospital. I stopped it right away and it took my 3 days of nausea to get it out of my system. Just give it a couple of days, it will get better gradually.
