Lexotan Side Effects

I have been taking lexotan for anxiety for 12 months, I take it only when I need it, haven't got a constant dose.  For the last 3 months I have been having severe anxiety and heart palpitations.  Is it possible that the lexotan is causing this?  I had ecg and bloods for heart and all was o.k.

Benzos like this can cause withdrawals when they are stopped suddenly.  How often do you take it on an 'as needed' basis?  Have you talked with your prescribing doctor about potential side effects?  The good thing is you got checked out and you are ok medically.  When I came off of certain benzos I had to come off of them very slowly to reduce side effects.  Also, could you be under some more stress these past couple of months?  I tend to notice different 'symptoms' around my body that can be uncomfortable, but I know that it is stress related...keep us posted!

I have been taking about 1/4 to 1/2 3mg tablet on and off over a week, not a steady dose, probably 3-4 times during a week.  I'm wondering if I am sending my body into turmoil by doing this.  How long does it take to get out of your system.  I havent' had any for one week now and am getting palpitations big time.

People often can have 'rebound' anxiety when coming off of a benzo.  I am not a doctor, but it is a short acting benzo with a half life around 12-20 hours I believe.  What does your doctor say?  You can build tolerance and dependence with medications like these.  You could also be experiencing anxiety because you are not on anything as well in my opinion.  I know it can be very confusing....have you been going to see a counselor about your anxiety? Medications can be great at what they are designed to do, however, they will not cure anything.  In my opinion, only learning about and confronting your anxiety will give you long term relief from your anxiety.  Keep us posted!
