Looking for a guided meditative yoga..

hey all...does anyone have any recommendations to a light guided meditative DVD?  They can be costly, but the class is more expensive.  I am finding it to be part of my therapy at this time. I hope it keeps working....I am looking for a DVD with a calm meditative voice that guides into light yoga. Thanks

It so happens that today, Tuesday, IS "Old People's Day" at Kroger which entitles me to 5% OFF everything except wine, cigarettes and medication. So, 'nother words, most of my order doesn't get the discount. But there are some offsets:

First of all, a lot of the vendors will have little card tables sets up where they will distributing samples of the kind of foods which cause sales of stool softener in the pharmacy department. I learned about stool softeners when I was looking for "old people's silver vitamins" one day and an elderly man in one of those electrified shopping carts asked me if I could reach the "stool softener" for him. I said, "yes, of course I can," and walked over to the waiting area for the prescriptions and brought back a cushion from one of the chairs. As I attempted to slip it underneath him, he said that he really didn't need any at the moment, gave me a funny look and drove off.

But anyway, what other people see as "free samples," I see as "lunch" so I visit each table in turn, sort of like a progressive dinner party.

Ya know how some people grab a coke from the cooler, drink it as they shop and then pay for the empty bottle at the register? Well, for added conversational value at the check out, I get a box of Depends, remove about half of them, stuff them into my drawers, and then buy the half empty box at the check out.

Oh yeah -I use my Amex Blue card because that gets me another 5% discount ion the form of a cash rebate from Amex. So now, given the composition of my shopping, I see an extra 15 cent discount.

Of course, I'm actually so youthful in my appearance that the clerks ask me how old I really am. "Most people my age have been dead for 20 years," I tell them, and that seems to get me through the line.

Then to Denny's, where the early bird special plus a freebie meal for my birthday really pile on the savings. I circulate among the 4 or 5 restaurants within a 30 mile radius. I'm a graphic designer, so I have no problem producing proof of birthday documents.

So much free stuff -so little time!

'Bye for now!

I meant no disrepect to your sincere post, by joking around with "Nursie"-girl.  I apologize.

I do have a meditation CD that was made up for me by my mental health therapist some years ago.  I have kept it all these years and it puts my in a deep, relaxed state within minutes of hearing the music and the sounds of nature, that he put in the CD.  It's awesome.

I have found that any music CD that you really find enjoyable, will relax you just as quickly as something you have to purchase just for meditation.  Sometimes people buy "Buddhist Monk Chants," on a CD.  They say it is extremely relaxing.

Hope you find something that works well for you.  Whatever CD you choose, I hope it works as well for you as they do for me.

Best Wishes,
Heather

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

You're both killing me here.

Speaking of Kroger----I hear that they are running a special today....

Day old danish....1/2 off to the customer with the most decorative/creative walker basket.

Tomorrow....you get a FREE trial size of Metamucil if you submit an entry for new and creative ways to utlize depends undergarments.  I know you're big into gardening...there just may be something there.

K, I'll stop now.  ;0)

When I went into the Kroger and asked what they had for old people like me, the clerk said: "overly ripe bananas are on special today!" And I said, "Why would I want those ugly brown things?" And he said, "Mr. if I were you, I certainly wouldn't be buying any GREEN bananas."

I get no respect.

JS even worms his way into a senior citizens discount at Kroger on Tuesday's.  Just because he's has white hair, he figures he's old.  Yes I do believe now, that he DID take advantage of those "Early Bird Specials," at Denny's....

AARP?  Dear God Man......do you go for the "Early Bird Specials" at your local Denny's?  LOL

KIDDING!  (Couldn't help myself)

surfer....I have a good friend who absolutely swears by her meditation CD's...I'll ask her for some recommendations that would be appropriate for someone just starting out with it.  She has done nothing but praise the effects she has had.

I'll get back to you on that!!!

I don't have a DVD, but the web is chock full of chakra, as it were. Just put the word, "guided meditation" in Google and then get ready for a chaotic onslaught of calm. I went to one of the sites: learningmeditation, and tried a few. I was oddly drawn to their gift shop page afterwards, but managed to break away before plunking down my credit card to buy the "Turtle Time Stress Reliever."

For what's its worth, I've been inspired by a recent AARP interview with Martin Sheen, who said, "I don't think we go to heaven. I think we become heaven, and I think that's the difference...we create heaven right here, right now. We project it. I don't have to wait until I'm dead."

Put that in your smoke and pipe it. Works for me.
