Want off Lorazapam

I have been on Lorazapam for about 3 years at different levels for Anxiety, I also have a Seizer Disorder  brought on by an overload of Anxiety.  I want off this horrid medication and try something different.  When trying to come off it not only intenseifies the Anxiety problem. My glands under my jaw swell and cause pain,  the salvia in my mouth has been affected by this medication.  I have never had this problem before Lorazapam.  I have seached the internet and found articles from the UK where this medication comes from and there are many lawsuits because of what long term use has done to people even under the guidence of a doctor.  I would much rather take some without the side affects of this powerful drug.  Not one doctor warned me of long term use.  My glands after eating would be so painful that I am on taking 1-1/2 mg. a day which is not much but when I tried reducing the amount I was in agony.  I have already lost 10 lbs. because it has affected my salvia and once that happens your saliva glands go into over drive to produce more salvia to digest what your eatin.  Has anyone come off Lorazapam with the aid of a different drug?   My body seems to need it even at such a low daily dose.  Please any advice is appreciated.

You need to find a doctor who knows how to w/d people from benzos! Most only know how to get us addicted!
You cannot just stop taking this med! And trying to figure out a w/d plan for yourself usually doesn't work. It should be done under the guidance of a doctor or psychiatrist.
Benzos are one of the most difficult drugs to w/d from, but it CAN be done. It just has to be done the right way.
At the top of this page, on the right hand side, is a box that says "Search MedHelp," go there and type in "Ryan/Lorazepam" or "Ryan/Benzo withdrawl." Ryan is our local pharmacy guru and when you read what he says about withdrawing from these meds, it might scare you, as it should. You need to know and really understand that what you are trying to do is very dangerous without the guidance of a qualified MD.
A good doc will probably help you wean by using another med to very slowly replace the one you're on. Eventually you will be 100% on the new med, it will be one that controls your anxiety but is much easier and safer to w/d from than the Lorazepam you're on now. And it can take MONTHS to do this safely and correctly.
After you have looked at Ryans posts and still have questions or concerns, please post again.
Let us know how you're doing, OK?
Peace
