Might have overdose on my old vyvanse meds

I had a huge exam yesterday, so starting on Thursday at 11:30 am, I took a 50mg pill to help me study.  I took another 50 mg pill at around 7 pm.  I was feeling fine, but I couldn't sleep the night before my exam.  The morning of my exam on Friday I took another 50 mg before I left.  Over a 20 hour period, I took 150 mg vyvanse.  I have been having chest pain, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate.  I went to the ER today to get it checked out and I didn't tell them about the vyvanse.  This prescription I got is a couple years old and I had it leftover.  It's been a while since I even touched it.

The doctors did an EKG and found it to be normal.  They sent me home.  I am still having chest pains at the moment and shortness of breath.  Health wise, if I don't take anymore, am I still in trouble because of how I'm feeling?  Or will this pain go away?  Since the EKG was normal, could it just be a panic attack from lack of sleep, food, and a high dosage of vyvanse over a short period with no tolerance?

This is a really old post but I stopped taking vyvanse for a few yes due to the antidepressant I was on. I stopped taking the antidepressant 3-6 mths ago and my life is falling apart.I can't concentrate, can't geyt a job, can't think.my mind is foggy and I can't concentrate to find a solution. I am a basically middle aged adult but the antidepressant was helping my add and depression. I took my old doseof vyvanse today to try to think clearly.I have been super sick ever since I took it. Can't get off toilet, throwing up,head littperallh feels like it wants to expose and jaw is killing me.(tmj) I am afraid to take my antiinflammatory, muscle relaxer or nausea meds cause of the vyvanse though I looked it up and none will interact.the reason I am posting this is in case someone else is looking for answers and in pain,so theory know what's going on.I didn't exactly overdose. I just restartedmh medicine. Its 80mg,so maybe I should ha e started lower but too late now. Best probably to work backup go dose you were on if you stop. The symptoms iam having are awful. I can't go far from bed or toilet. My bead and stomach hurt.I amsick.what I didn't this k of this morning g when I decided to restart medwas, for the last week or so I have been really sick and so has my youngest child. Might even have pneumonia. Or bronchitis or a bad sinus infection.don't know. Kids doc couldn't get him in and when I took bhim in with other kid,doc said give it 3 more dys and if he gets worse instead of better call and say doc said to make the appt.I haven't been able to eat all week. Probably ly didn't drink much either, though I did more of that but it was cokes and some koolaid. Couldn't swallow food.choked when I tried to e end swallow bread.last night I was able to eat.had 2 pieces of pizza and 3 bread sticks then later that night,a bowl of cereal.today barely drank anything and ate nothing.there is my mistake and probably 90% of the people here looking for help. The water at my house is gross.so I don't drink it and am out of water or water based drinks other than can coke.which dehydrates me.I am so dehydrated. I was sick an hour or so after taking the meds, threw up and felt better. Then I got too hpot playing with my kids and husband that my jaw and head started to hurt worse than ever.6 hrs later I still feel bad but am getting better. I had to eat a popsicle thenforce myself to drink tapwater.if the neigh oring city's sewage didn't go where our DRI king water came from,it might be different.but our water smells bad but all cokes taste flat and I didn't get better till I started drinking water and soaked a rag in cold water and kept on my face.I ha e a psych degree but wasn't thinking, I should ha e known this. Amphetamines are harder to od on than a lot of meds. It can be done, especially in combo with antidepressants (which can be really dangerous, check I redactions with these and never take too much)most of you probably ly needed to eat first then stay hydrated, especially if you took too much.not condoning taking too much or someone else's meds, but try water or Gatorade. I don't want anyone to feel like I do now and I only took my old dose.cant imagine the people who took too much on purpose. It hydration should help.the chest pain and symptoms like that are what speed will do to you, it is a side effect not an overdose.but this horrid headache, could be side effect,is awful and the stomach pain and probs are so bad. Try a little water.if you're marathon studying or whatever it is you wanted to stay up to do,even if it is clear your busy, crazy mind like me,you may foprget to eat or drink.people never think to drink water,at least I don't.easy to forget.try that and your chest and sleep will be back to normal in 24-48hrs,depending on what you took.but if your chest feels like its going to explode after rest and water GO TO THE ER.they have to help.and will.not worth worrying if strangetrs will look down on you to risk it,tell them what you took too, then they can correctly counteract it.going to go drink some Gatorade now and callmh doc for lower dose pills.good luck!(again, not condoning any illegal activity.just trying to help people not feel like me!!!!)

I'm so glad to hear that you went back and told them the truth.  Hopefully you can accept that you're fine.

The lab value is not relevant.  The "normal ranges" are very much a "range", and a doctor isn't going to be concerned if a person's results fall slightly outside the "norm", especially when all other labs are perfectly normal.  Don't give it another thought.

Nurse girl, I appreciate your advice.  I did go to the ER and was honest with them.  They ran blood tests, chest x rays and another EKG.  All came back normal.  The doctor diagnosed it as non heart related, and instead musculoskeletal pain.

Does this usually mean I'm okay?

Also in the blood test, i got a 0.8 for IG auto which is supposed to be in the range of 0.0-0.7.  And I got 0.4 for baso auto which is supposed to be in the range of 0.0-0.3.  What does this mean if I am 0.1 above the normal ranges?

Here's some info on overdoses:

You really should have told the doctor in the ER what you took.  When you withhold vital info in a medical setting, you're basically handicapping the doctors.  They wouldn't be looking for certain things that may be pertinent with the possible OD.

I think your best bet, for peace of mind anyway, would be to return to the ER, and be honest about what you took, so they can do the appropriate work-up.  Same with a cardiologist...if you DO decide to seek one out, you must be honest with him/her, or you'll be in the same situation, with the doctors' hands tied.

Please.  I need to know if I should go see a cardiologist.  I am not sure if this chest pain is caused by heart damage or not, even though the EKG  was normal.  It is extremely discomforting, there are also some chest tremors every once in a while along with it.  What do i do?

I know I made a stupid mistake of doing that.  I've been finally getting sleep though.  I am still suffering through some uncomfortable chest pains, but my breathing has gotten better.  I'm just not so sure if my chest pain is heart related or not.

I have been detoxing without other meds.  I do not have an addiction towards the vyvanse.  I only used it because I was simpleminded and ignorant about the health effects.  It's definitely an eye opener for me.

Just need to know if my chest is just bruised or it's a bad heart problem

Ditto Paxiled's post 200%!

You have to give it time to resolve.  Of course you feel panicky and anxious.

The bigger picture here for me, is what you're doing is putting you on a slippery slope.  Before long, you'll be seeking other addictive substances to "come down"...and then more uppers to counteract the drowsiness caused by the downers.  It's a vicious cycle and will lead you right into the throws of addiction, which you don't want to do.

Self medicating with prescription drugs for energy and ANY other reason it was Rx'ed for is just a BAD idea.  Hopefully you learned that this is not something you should ever do again.

So let's get this straight.  You took a bunch of amphetamines and are wondering why you're feeling all the effects of taking a bunch of amphetamines?  Play with speed, get burned.  Did you know studies show that using speed to take exams impedes memory and performance?  It might help you stay up, but it won't help you perform better, quite the opposite.  This will probably go away, but it should be a better lesson than the exam you took.
