Need help w/med interaction-Xanax & Diflucan

I was on antibiotics for an ear infection and now have a yeast infection. The GP gave me a RX for Diflucan. I took that much earlier tonite. I just happened to read the Prescription info sheet & it has Xanax as an interacting drug but it doesnt say how. I tried googling and cant see why it shouldnt be taken.. I did see where under Xanax it says one of the drugs to avoid is Diflucan. Why would an antifungal med interact with a sedative? Now im all worried bc i cant call the pharmacy until they open in the am. Does anyone know what interaction this might be?

Thanks Paxiled.  The pharmacist actually said all ithe combo of diflucan & xanax would do was increase the effect of xanax, Its a one dose pill & to be honest I didnt feel anymore sleepy from taking both.
I do get frequent ear infections & sometimes 10 days of antibiotics do not rid it. I am not even sure its totally gone right now. Still feel pressure in my ears & a lil dizzy at times. But with the dizziness that could eb anxiety too.  Sometimes its hard to tell.
By Probiotic do you mean Acidophilus? I did tajke it for the 1st few days while on the antibiotic but I did not know it was for immune system help. I still have a half a bottle left in my fridge. Think I will start adding that to my daily diet. Whats a good dose to take? The ones I have state lactobacillus acidolphilus 10mg...

Don't know about that, but I can tell you that antibiotics very often lead to chronic infections -- more ear infections, yeast infections, etc.  This is because they kill of the beneficial flora in the intestinal tract that is an essential part of our immune system.  Repeated courses of antibiotics, which includes antifungals, will make this more likely. You have two options here:  See a naturopath or ask you doc for a natural treatment for your yeast infection -- there are several.  Or, when you finish your course of your pharmaceutical treatment, start taking a good refrigerated probiotic to replenish your stores of beneficial flora and for a while, avoid sugar and things that turn to sugar quickly in the body, such as potatoes and white flour.  Yeast and bacteria love sugar.  Sorry I'm no help on your other question, but pharmacists are often the best sources of this kind of information.
