OCD & Depression Please Help

I am 31 years old and I have OCD, Depression, ADHD, and I suffer panic/anxiety attacks. It was triggered 12 years ago when my daughter was born and she had several life threatening illnesses. The doctor told me it triggered the disorder, OCD. Lately things have been very stressful and so my OCD, Depression, and the attacks are really hitting hard and they are starting to hurt my already stressed marriage and I'm looking for help on how to deal and overcome some of the thoughts that I have to ponder over and such. I take effexor and adderal everyday and I try to keep busy but my mind still wonders and it causes problems. Plaese Help.

I'm 17 and apparently have OCD ( Ossesive Compulsive Disorder)
Am Seeing a Mental Health Councelor, And am Curently prescribed Gen-Citalopram 20mg I only take half tablets at routined times, But I have good strategies to counter act These urges and struggles, But this Is not why I'm here, Latley I have had Very unexpected out of the blue Increased Heart Rate, I've had a ECG (echo cardiagram)
And Have no Irregular heart beats, I was Admitted In Vancouver children hospital With Paria-Charditis ( Inflamation and water In the lining around your heart, and water In the Lungs)
And latley The heart has been racing, and I get like this burning sort of feeling on my lower back legs and back of my neck, Like a Sunburn, Or sitting In front of a fire place and my heart varies from 84-120 150 ish in matter of seconds I can control It now Deep Breaths and Focusing on happier thoughts too not increase the panic, but does anyone know why I'm getting this burning skin and racing heart? I do smoke In the middle of Quitting I do not use any drugs, drink the odd few with my friends and a all around decent healthy person? any suggestions or storys that can relate with some helpful advice or Daignostics?

Thanks for the clarification on your daughter, and good for you for making changes and taking action -a moving target is always harder to hit! Please keep the therapy or group idea in mind. Sounds like you're on your way!

Thanks, I have noticed that since I've joined the forum that I do feel somewhat better. And I have been trying to change some of my routine as well as trying to be aware of what I'm doing. I do want to clear up that I did not lose her but I almost did and then it's been along 12 years of her having many problems. Once again thank you so much for listening and giving me ideas. I also am talking to my doctor about maybe changing my meds a little. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.

You might try the local health department as low/no cost therapy alternative. Also ask them about local groups that meet -good company there!

And I thank you for touching on some of the background issues that acted to "set you up" for the catastrophic loss of your daughter. But for now, if you cannot get the therapy, let's just say that we here on the Forum are like trusted family members with whom you can share anything.

I think that if you re-work your daily routine a little bit, it might help clear the air somewhat. So, give yourself forum time to ask and answer, do some reading -and how about 20 minutes of exercise? The idea is to change the course of this ship where she lays -when you CAN get therapy, you'll be that much further along.

Michelle - get back in the fight. You are intelligent, articulate, self-aware and well motivated.

Now, let's get to work.

I so hope to hear from you again soon.

Thanks for responding. I have in the past seen therapists but I currently am not due to money issues. I know that there are certain things in my family that make me more likely to have it. My mother has a rare brain tumor and its been a long journey. I had a terrible childhood, that included my mothers illness, and many more things. I have thought about changing meds because I'm not sure that they are working as well as they could. My husband is a good man and he's really trying but I want to feel better for me as well as him and my daughter. Thanks for listening.

I'm glad you've come to the forum. Trust me, you'll have plenty of company. You mentioned the meds, but nothing about therapy. Are you seeing anyone for this situation? The drugs can help you cope -but the therapy helps you prevail, by finding causes and background stressors you can actually deal with once you know what they are. Indeed, your duaghter's situation was a trigger, just as the doctor said. But why were so susceptible?

So, in addition to whatever sharing you care to do here, please consider a consult locally.

We're with you.
