Panic attack

Hey, my names anthony and a 20 year old man.

the reason am here i just want a few answers and advice, i started using cocaine about a year ago, but up to this year is were i enjoy it and get the craving for one after i have a few drinks, i take it about twice a month but not large quantitys, no more than 40 pounds worth on a weekend if theres a party or such.

One night in my friends i was up all night taking it but in small portions, and it got to about 5 oclock in the morning, when i started feeling wierd, quite panicky and could feel my heart rate increase, i kept walking around, in and out of the garden and then decided to try to go asleep, once i layted down my heart rate must of soared close to 200, and i was twitching paniking holding my chest literally thinkin i was having a heart attack, was realy a scary expreicience, i said id never take it again, but when i was to take it next i was thinking it was going to happen, and i felt rather weird again like just getting up and going somewere, sounds wierd like, but the times after that were alright, just want to know if that was normal for cocaine or wether theres something up with me, few of my friends have felt that before to..

Thanks

If you are being honest about the amount you use and the frequency, I doubt you are "addicted" in the true sense of that word. Your friend at work who snorts $400 worth a week.........HE is addicted.

You've said that when you're out drinking you get a craving for coke, but it goes away within minutes and you stick with just alcohol. Do you think an "addict" could/would do that?

If you REALLY want to stop using, the next time a craving hits, do whatever you've done in the past when you've said "no" to that craving. Get up and leave. Call a friend who doesn't use and get some moral support. Stop hanging with people who DO use.

Remind yourself how it made you feel that time, how frightened you were. Remember that this is a very, very serious street drug and you're taking a huge risk with your life for a lousy 20 minute "feel good" ride. Think about how much that "ride" is costing you. Remember how you're going to feel the next day. Remember that if you get some bad sh*t, there may not BE a next day.

Perhaps the biggest thing for you to remember is your friend at work. Is THAT how YOU want to end up? He should be the biggest wake up call anyone could ask for.

You are sooooo young and drugs are such a bloody dead end. And that's what comes after you've lost the plot.......a dead end.
Please don't do that.
I wish you the strength and the courage to say no.
Peace

Thankyou for the advice and things :), i thought what happend to me wasnt normal but as you said after a combination of no sleep alchol ect, thats the side effect, and when you said it didnt scare me enough well it bloody well did, because everytime i go to have one am frightend, (sometimes to be honest) and it plays with my head, but its so addictive like i love the buzz, which last 20mins, which is crap its so exspensive and when ever i wake up iu feel like complete and utter crap and feel as if ive blew my money away, i truly know the effects of this drug, i know people around mine who have just dropped, and id love to stop completly which is what i want to do, but when i drink there is a craving, But it goes within minits then ill carry on the night enjoyin drinks,

The same thing happend with canibus 2years ago, had a huge panic attack which was the wake up call which got me to stop, was literally petrified of it, since i stopped tha, paranio coughing ect went, best thing ive done, and am hoping to knock cocaine on the head n quit, av been on it for 6 months, but the first time i tryed dates back a year

And to top it off i work with someone who has a addiction what probly costs him $400 a week, And he isnt normal he has lost the plot sooo :) thankyou.

In this community we do not judge people for their actions. Especially since a great many of us have, at one time or another, dabbled in drugs. I know I don't need to tell you that you should stop using, it's totally your decision and that is the end of my lecture.

I trust when you said you never did more than "40 pounds," that was in reference to the cost in UK dollars.........when I first read that, I fell out of my chair! I'm just going to take a wild guess that 40 pounds may get you a  couple of grams.

Coke, as you well know, is a stimulant. The quality of the product is anybodies guess.........as is what it has been cut with. Using coke is a total crap shoot with your life and I hope this scare has made you realize that it's just not worth the risk.

Your experience with the rapid heart rate, panic and feeling like you're about to have a heart attack are common side effects of having gone over the limit combined with no sleep, probably not eating and perhaps drinking alcohol, which is not a recommended beverage while snorting coke. You combine a strong stimulant, (cut with God knows what) with alcohol, which is a depressant, and you can create some very frightening confusion in your brain.

It's difficult, if not impossible, to say if what you experienced was due to the drug or if the drug triggered a cardiac event that may have been a wake up call. Young people your age usually do not have heart disease, but when you have a heart rate of 200 beats per minute, the heart cannot sustain that level for long before something blows.

It sounds like you've indulged several times since this happened, so I guess it didn't freak you out enough to get your answer from the only person who is capable of telling you if this WAS a normal reaction to the coke or if there IS something going on with you physically. I'm talking about your doctor.

You can read many, many cases where someone has snorted coke for the first and only time and dropped dead. You can read about people who have used for a long time and get into some coke that's been cut with something that kills them. Like I said before, it's a crap shoot.

I hope you win.
Peace
