Petechiae? Freaking out

I am a 26f, good health besides allergies/chronic sinus issues, normal weight, but I've had history of problems with health anxiety since childhood.  I have had a few petechiae on and off for 2 months now, usually no more than a handful at a time.  They occur mostly on my stomach, though right now I have 2 on my stomach, 1 on my right leg, and 1 on my chest.  They seem to always fade within a few days.  At the time they first occurred, I had been fighting off a nasty cold for a week.  The nurse practitioner looked at them, agreed they might be petechiae, but that they did not look concerning to her.  A few days later the doctor ordered bloodwork to ease my fears about leukemia (a fear I've had since 8 years old or so), and the CBC was normal.  I have no fevers, night sweats, bleeding, fatigue, etc, or really anything to worry about, though the 2 or 3 petechiae at a time have come and gone since then.  Does anyone know what else could cause a few petechaie with normal bloodwork?  The doctor and nurse practitioner both showed NO concern about the previous spots, but I'm very worried.  Could they somehow be stress related?  Could the fact that I did not have the CBC until the spots were fading make a difference?  I don't want to hassle the doctor continually if there is nothing to worry about, but it was frustrating that she seemed so flippant about them and couldn't really explain why I have them.  Anyone else experience this?
Thanks in advance!

Petechiae here and there really aren't too much of a concern.  Really, it is just broken capillaries under the skin...can be caused by trauma (ie sports).

Petechiae related to thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) that would be indicative of a blood disorder would have shown up in your blood work.  I really wouldn't be too concerned about it, unless it worsens, in which case....go back for a once over with your doctor.

Also, there are some dermatological conditions that look VERY similar to  petechiae...a lot of times, what you're seeing really isn't petechiae at all.

I'm having the same exact issue as you for 6 months now with no explanation! They come and go mostly on my stomach. Normal blood work. I too have health anxiety and have been to 5 doctors regarding my petechiae and they all are not concerned since my blood work was normal. Have you found anything out?

Hi, I'm just wondering...are you by any chance on Prozac? I have had chronic sinus/digestive problems and I also have extensive petechiae(mainly limbs tho' slightly fewer/larger on trunk). I am on Prozac(12 years, currently weaning off)and this is the only probable explanation that I have come up with for my symptoms

Thank you so much for the helpful reply.  I have another question now.  Last night I began to have symptoms of a UTI.  I noticed after working out and showering that I had 2 new spots on my stomach, and a small line of very small spots which looked like it was from an abrasion.  Could the UTI and spots be related?  I'm worried now because I have a dermatology appointment on Thursday to figure this out, and I got my last CBC report from end of February today.  Everything was within normal limits except the MPV, which was a little high at 10.3.  With normal platelets and everything else, what does this indicate?  When the doctor called with the results her exact words were, "Your counts are normal, you definitely do not have cancer."  I didn't show her the new spots today out of fear that my continued anxiety could cause her to take my concerns in the future less seriously, but after seeing that elevated value, I'm defnitely worried again.  Should I call and request another CBC?

hi you had answered a question of mine a couple days ago regarding petechiae , if there where only spots randomly placed around the body would that be a concern? i went to my doctor who did a cbc and said the blood was perfect all my levels and such where as he said fantastic i showed him some of the spots and he kind of had a smerk and said he couldnt answer my question but it was probably a skin issue and not domething caused by an internal problem , i told him they dont go away and he said again its nothing serious from what he can see

i ask you this because they are not in large nunbers but they do no subside and i do notice new ones ocasionally i know you cant really say for sure but does this sound like i need to goto a different doctor or would you agree that since they are not covering any part in large number that it isnt a reall concern

thanks.
