Please anyone respond that can understand???????

I am currently taking klonopin twice a day which is a miracle for me prescribed from my psychiatrist... Prior to this I was taking cymbalta only for a week and 2 days!  I stopped taking the cymbalta due to side effects.  I didn't take any on Monday and still haven't.  My primary care doctor prescribed the cymbalta to me!  I was in the middle of withdrawing from celexa which was a nightmare in itself it's been almost a month I been off of it!  so on a Saturday when my psych wasn't around I was desperate.  I went to my primary doctor and that is when he prescribed the cymbalta.  I went to my psychiatrist on wednesday and was not having any withdrawal symptoms up until yesterday!  Could this be from only being on it for a week and 2 days?  My psychiatrist told me I should not have been put on cymbalta for my type of case.  I just really hope these withdrawl symptoms go away soon :(  I don't want to go through this anymore!  I try taking the benadryl as everyone says it helps relieve it.  But I am having rushes of dizziness...I guess I have to just wait it out and be tough i dunno anymore

I believe no matter how long you take those type of medications you will get some type of symptom when stopping.  Remember I was on Celexa for over a year before Cymbalta.  So my body might still be adjusting from that.  I been off of celexa for about a month now.  I am only taking klonopin right now under my doctors supervision 2mg's a day.  It is helpful with panic.

It's very unlikely that you are withdrawing from the Cymbalta.  I also took it for only one week and stopped taking it due to side effects.  I had NO withdrawal.  It takes about 3-4 weeks for most anti-depressants to start working fully, so just a week on it, should not have any effect.

As always, checking with your doctor is best.  You may be experiencing some anxiety, that is causing your present symptoms.  Anxiety can do that and present itself in all kinds of different ways.

Good luck to you.

Hi Chris:
Cymbalta is a powerful med. It can cause withdrawal symptoms (brain zaps, strange eye movements, brain fog, among others). But due to the short time you have been on it, maybe your simptoms won't last too much, perhaps 2-3 weeks or so. Hang on, they will dissappear slowly. I was on Cymbalta for 9 months and even I went off very slowly I had withdrawal simptoms for 2 years, but progresively slowing down each day.
Be strong, if you feel clonazepam is good for you, maybe your primary problem is anxiety, you don't need an antidepressant.
Try to stay on minimum dosage of clonazepam (Klonopin), maybe 0.25mg twice a day. Clonazepam is addictive so try to stay on low dose to avoid dependence and addiction.
good luck
