Question

Hello, I am a 21 year old male.  I have anxiety and OCD. Since turning 21 I have started to drink a lot more.  And i noticed my anxiety and OCD getting worse.  I have been sober for 2 weeks and have noticed it has gotten a little better.  Does drinking cause anxiety/ocd to worsen?

Also.  I have read that marijuana can cause anxiety to make to be worse, some say it relaxes them.  does anybody have input on this?  NOTE: I do not smoke I am just curious

Alcohol is a depressant, it will give you a lot of anziety and depression for many days following a binge.  For anyone with anxiety and depression, it is truly much better just to steer clear of it all together.  In the very least, only drink SMALL amts ocassionally.

Hi, I used to drink alot when I was 18-19 (the alcohol limit in Sweden i 18) and I too noticed my anxiety getting worse. The truth is that alcohol, nicotine and other drugs, including marijuana, can make anxiety worse.
The past three years I drink very occasionally and my anxiety is much better.

Yes, it can make anxiety worse for some people. And so can smoking marijuana. If you have'nt drank in 2 weeks and your anxiety is better, you might want to think about stopping altogether. For that reason and because of the health benefits.
