Stopped taking klonopin cold turkey

I was put on klonipin / clonazepam 2 months ago for anxiety/panic symptoms. I took it for 44 days at a dose of .5 mg one pill per day. I then came down with what felt like a sinus/ear infection and headache. I stopped taking it cold turkey because I read online this stuff lowers the immune system. It has been 5 days since I quit this medicine. The first few days I had really bad head aches along with dizziness. I am now on my 5th day of not taking it and I still have headache pain in my temples, behind my eyes, and what feels like pressure in my ear canals and sides of brain. I also feel very foggy like my memory is gone and have trouble thinking. My headaches are less but I feel like my brain is foggy or have memory loss? I am just wondering if anyone could help me with if this is going to affect my long term health like give me dementia or alzheimers or anything? I have seen studies linking this klonopin with dementia and cancer and hasnt made me to excited that I took it. Any info would be appreciated TY.

I've never heard of this med being associated with dementia or with lowering the immune system.  If your withdrawal persists, go back on the med at the last dose at which you felt fine and then taper off slowly, as you should have done.  If you ever go back on benzos, know that quitting abruptly can cause seizures.

Yikes. Considering that seizures warning could have been fatal, the next time you are prescribed an anxiety  med read the insert that came with the med thoroughly. Or if you lose it then discuss with a med professional like a pharmacist or the doc when you plan to change the dosage.

I don't think you have any memory loss to fear after just 44 days, but if you can't get over the fears then you should talk all of these fears over with your pharmacist or doctor, Many people take this drug yet its usage isn't listed as a leading cause of dementia, so likely the chances of anyone suffering damage after such a short time on it is near zero.
