It certainly is a very common anxiety state. I too suffer from this. Try seeing a doctor and see if he will give you a non benzo medication. Also, see a psychologist to assist you with anxiety recovery. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is the ticket to feel better! God bless!

Sorry you are dealing with this symptom too.. I have health anxiety and often have the feeling of my throat closing up, being choked.. Or like I can't breath, but am clearly breathing fine. Its so annoying to constantly feel like this... The closest thing that I have found that describes this sensation is a cricopharyngeal spasm and it is anxiety related. Are you on a anti anxiety medication?

I'm no doctor but have the same feeling as you, I've suffered anxiety for 10 years now.  The last month I've felt like I have a ball in my throat or some restriction like my throat is closing.  I dont have trouble swallowing although it does feel tight.  My dr said its part of the anxiety, and not everyone will get it.  It is rather annoying but find it will disappear if I'm distracted and get worse if I dwell on it.  You need not worry that it will hurt you just as an anxiety attack will not hurt you, its a symptom of the anxiety.  Are you extra stressed at the moment can you think what happened when it started.  Mine has come because I'm venturing into a new career path.  I'd like to say I know how to get rid of it but I havent figured that out myself so am interested to know what other people think.
