Topic on Fox News, For all to read

I was watching Fox News yesturday and found out that doctors have a name for all of us who look up our symptoms on line then go to the doctors and self diagnose ourselves. They call us CYBERCHONDRIACS. My husband was watching tv with me when it came on. He started giggling and saying who does that sound like. I guess we drive our doctors crazy because we go online. Diagnose ourselves and tell them to do certain tests and prescribe medications. Watching it though really made me think, because my husband is right. I do, do that. I just wanted to share that with you all. I thought the name was funny.

I too watched that segment.  I told a doctor one time that "I read on line, or I "googled" it" don't remember exactly how I said it, and he threw my chart on his desk, turned around and said "are you going to continue to get your diagnosis from the Internet?  If so, then there is no need for me to waste my time on you".

Lots of doctors are on ego trips you cannot even tell or show them on paper about a side effect of a certain medication you are taking.  Lots of doctors do NOT like when a patient tries what they feel is "trying to tell him/her what to do".  A friend of mine doctor asked her one time "and how many yrs did you go to medical school?"  You've to be real careful how you approach these doctors unless its an old family doctor who knows you and your family for yrs.
