Value of Anxiety Friends

I was just reading anxiety recommendations from from a research paper on PubMed. It was discussing the importance of mutual support of people who share the anxiety spectrum conditions. It said that face to face where people actually have real time interactions is the most therapeutic. After that and almost as good was voice contact (telephone). Then personal snail mail letters or Email followed by anonymous support groups.

It listed anonymous on line support groups as highly valuable to connect with people you would never meet and receive many different views and information. It strongly suggested to increase feelings of safety - security and personal interactions that having real person to person talk or face to face meetings were highly desirable.

It also stated anxiety patients, especially if they have some depression or social fears tend to isolate and not reach out for real relationships and that adds to the anxiety condition.

Misery loves company, and it's comforting when you can talk with someone who knows what you're going through or some who has been there. Anyone who hasn't suffered through anxiety can't fully appreciate what you're going through, and often times they just think you're overreacting or just flippin nuts. It's almost like a sigh of relief when you can speak with others who know what it's like to be peeled off the ceiling anytime they think they've got a terminal illness or think they've having a stroke or heart attack.
