Anytime you start a new medication never hesitate to contact your prescribing doctor with anything knew that appears. Most of us who suffer from panic attacks take an antidepressant and an anxiety medication, I myself take Citalopram. Contact your doctor and go from there....he is your best resource. Take care.
The side effects of Citalopram, which is in the class of drugs known as "anti-depressants" do not list numbness as a known side effect. The website to examine on this is:

I am very surprised your doctor prescribed this drug for panic attacks. That does not at all appear to be an intended use or application. I would question that with your Doc and find out some more detail as to why this was prescribed for panic attacks. The sister drug to Citalopram is Lexapro, which I have been prescribed for depression, but only because I am on 2 mg per day of Xanax, which is the common medication for panic attacks and anxiety. Xanax is in the class of drugs known as "depressants", which obviously will make you "depressed" thus continuing the 3 ring circus of meds, one to depress you , another to fight the depression, and so on.
That's one of the reasons, I think, they call it the "practice" of medicine.
In any case, I would have a long chat with my prescribing physician as to the symptoms you are having and why this med was prescribed?
