Weaning off lexapro

I have been on lexapro for over 6 months and i'm noticing the side effects are getting more than I wanted to have to cure some anxiety.  At first I was on 10 mg and then people around me still noticed my "spazing out" is what they like to call it so I started taking 20mg a day.  I can't sleep at night, but tired throughout the day. I have other problems as well, I just want to be off.  How would you say the best way to get off this safely and with less chaos for the rest and myself.

Thanks
Ashley

I assume you have a psychiatrist.  He or she should guide you through this.  You want to taper off as slowly as you need to.  If it goes great, then you're off.  If you get some withdrawal, it'll go away.  If you get severe withdrawal, you go back on it and taper more slowly.  Read The Antidepressant Solution by Joseph Glanville; it should help educate you about how to get off these.  Good luck.
