I take Welbutrin for depression. It helps very little. I also have anxiety issues as well as low self-esteem, zero confidance...etc. Welbutrin does nothing for me to ease that.
I also was on Wellbutrin without Xanax for a few months and it did nothing for my anxiety....and I was not depressed...the shrink put me on that for anxiety only. It did NOT work for me. I'm sure everyone is different. Good luck!
in short...NO...if it has any effect at all it will be minimal and it actually makes anxiety alot worse when you initially take it. the first 2-4 week anxiety is actually increased. it's a stimulanting drug for the first few weeks. wellbutrin is actually the EXACT same medicine as zyban. the drug they use to try to get people to stop smoking cigarettes with. i've heard of times it's been effective with other meds, like another ssri or some benzo's. but if you are looking for it to be your cure for anxiety/panic then it might not be the best med for you. i have not taken this med myself. but have heard this from tons of people. about the same amount of people that say buspar is junk! haha that should put it in perspective. but if you don't have acute panic disorder and just have anxiety problems maybe give it a try. i'm not a dr. just my opinion. talk it all over with your doc and see what he/she says....
