4 year old anxioty this bad??

I have a 4 year old son, Anthony.  Here in the last few months, he has started stalling to go to bed, (at least what we thought.).  His excuse is that he is itching all over.  Well after a few weeks of this, I took him to the doctor, and she recommended putting cream on him because she didn't see anything wrong.  The cream kept his mind off of it for a week.  Now, even with the cream, when he gets the least bit upset he starts itching.  I assume this is a type of anxiety.  We have, however, also began to notice how protective he is over his things, and not just to the point of fussing, but to the point of hyperventilating and vomiting until he either falls asleep or gets his way.  He has issues with people being to close to him, and other small things.  We don't spoil him, I know that, because we don't really have the money to anyways, and he is usually very great full for the things he gets.  I just don't know if this goes with the anxiety or what???

Thanks so much for your input.  I am really struggling with this one.  My husband isn't too keen on our son seeing someone.  I have OCD and anxioty myself, but with that, I am a bit of a hypochondriac.  My husband thinks that our son's issue isn't as bad as I do.

I was diagnosed with anxiety when I was 5 years old and regularly saw a counselor that specialized in child psychology. Apparently I had such awful seperation anxiety that I would scream, cry, hyperventilate and get myself sick whenever my mom took me to daycare or kindergarten. Look into a child psychologist. Its definitley possible to have anxiety even at a very young age.
