Wellbutrin and Anxiety/Buspar

Hi
I've been taking 150mg of Wellbutrin in the AM despite a diagnosis of anxiety.  I'm about to start taking buspar along with it.  Has anyone actually had success with Wellbutrin and anxiety?  It's made me a lot worse.  Has anyone taken buspar (or anything else) and benefited enough from it to stay on wellbutrin?  I also suffer from moderate atypical depression (sleep and eat a lot) so that's why my dr put me on wellbutrin, but I'm pissed she didn't address the anxiety right away.  I've been having panic attacks. :(
Thanks

I don't know why personally someone would giv someone wellbutrin for anxiety that's crazy to me I take wellbutrin for depression and It really helps a lot and gives me a little more energy when I need a jumpstart to clean. but yea I don't have any symptoms or side effects from this at all. I wish it would wake me up alittle better im so tired and lazy  and unmotivated still. but I am however better than before. I know that I have bad anxiety and wellbutrin does not help that nor does it make it any worse. but I have tried everything for my anxiety and Cymbalta helped in the past. but I couldn't mix it with wellbutrin so now I am about to try buspar for my anxiety and see how that works for me, heard it was good we'll c. I know Xanax .5 thru out the day is great for it but of course no one likes to prescribe them.unfortunaltly if I really need to calm down I might find someone that will giv me one on the street.u gotto do watcha gotto do I guess. also a low mg of trazadone is good to calm down if your having a panic attack unfortunalty I cant get anything that can sedate me so my psyc says. but I have tried them on the streets a lot and they are good.

Hi There I have anxiety and my doctor put me on Wellbutrin and after 4 days I had a major  panic attack and increased anxiety and I called the doctor and she told me to go off it, anxiety is a side effect, I would suggest calling your doctor and discuss this with them. I also had increased heart rate and was uncomfortable on the medication, my doctor also told me that sometimes if you wait it out that the anxiety could stop but I wasn't really wanting to wait it out for a maybe. Good Luck

Every now and then, someone poses a question which REALLY should be put before an expert, as well as the members of the "regular" forums for the "ordinary" folks like us.

To get an Expert Opinion, click "Forums" at the top of the page, then scoll down until you see the "Ask an Expert" Forums. This listing is probably out of view, below the bottom of your screen, so you need to scroll to see it. Then, click the Forum title you want. You will then see a disclaimer, to which you must agree before entering the forum. Once you get into the expert forum the operation and appearance is pretty much the same as it is here.

Also, try entering the name of any drug in the search box at upper right, click "Go" and see useful and "official" information about the drug. In addition to the user experiences reported here, it is a good way to get the facts and a great supplment to what your doctor may have told you. Give it a whirl!

This is not intended as a "brush-off," I just want to be certain you are getting what you need, and what you're asking for.

Now aside from the meds issue, I'm a little nervous (well, "pissed") that the anxiety/panic is not getting attention as your instincts tell you they should. It may be time for a consult with someone who does take it seriously and IS qualified to advise you. Don't be afraid (heh, heh) to get aggressive about this. Meanwhile, we here at the forum positively "get it," are ready, willing and able to jump right in. As a first step, you might want to give us some idea of when/how the panic started, and situations you currently face which seem to aggravate or trigger it.

But...before that....please actually JOIN the forum. Its easy -just click the Join Link -enter some profile information about yourself -even a picture if you care to- and anything you think would help us get to know you faster and better, and you can change this material whenever you like. You will also be accessible to receive private messages when other members click the name you've given yourself -sort of a "push to talk" feature. After you've done that, spend some time just using various features of the forum. For example, to see all the posts or responses that someone has made, just click their handle, go to their profile, click Posts, and read to your heart's content. You may also enter search terms -including member names- in the search box at the upper right of your screen and the system will retrun everything matching the term(s) you entered. This INCLUDES the afore-mentioned  drug database that will give you both user posts about drugs as well as the medical information about the drug.

Hope to see your name in blue, soon.

wellbutrin caused me to have a racing heartbeat and to feel way to keyed up,, definatly contradictory to anxiety control for this person. Dr suggested cutting the pills in half but by then it was already in my system pretty well and I had to wean off it entirely to calm my nervouse system down.

I am on the same wellbutrin dose... and my doctor prescribed it specifically for my anxiety. So far, it hasn't helped and it has been a little over a month that I have been taking it. I had tried paxil, which helped my anxiety, but made me feel physically sick, so I had to stop taking it. I tried lexapro too, which didn't seem to help and I got bad side effects from it.

I am actually extremely interested in Buspar because it is completely different than all the other stuff I have tried.
