according to international system hiv testing on 3 months or after 3 months is conclusive and no further testing is needed..unless with rarecases ..a person having a immunodefficeincy or having hepatitis treatment have to wait for six month...Elisa 4th genration testing can even detect hiv antibody in just 3 week..cause one hiv+ got positive result on3 weeks ..
Your welcome, i hope you manage to calm down your anxiety, i went through the stages of worry when my incident happened, so i know how tough it is.
Oh man, yes i remember, after my incident i caught a common cold virus that was going around and ended up freaking out, although it takes years for real HIV symptoms to show up.
Positive thinking, and talking to friends and family helped me get through it until i had to get tested (because I had risk factors unlike you)
Anyway, if you ever want to talk, i'm here :).
Awesome ... It really helps to see some assurance that nothing is wrong with me. This worry has made my life very difficult for past 6 weeks. The only thing I think about is HIV. And moreover, even though I keep telling myself that symptoms is not the way to judge someone's HIV status, I keep looking for every minute change in my body and attributing it to HIV. Hope, I will come out of it soon. Again, Thanks a lot for your comments.
Well perhaps they meant to write 6 months. The fact is HIV takes 4 to 6 months to actually show up in your body, so it won't display anything before that. Nothing will show up on tests in just 6 weeks.
I've heard that sometimes 3 months is enough, but to be safe, it's best to wait the 6 month time period. All you have to do is get a blood test at the 4 or 6 month time period. I really hope there was something else i could say to reassure you that it will be negative, but perhaps you need to hear it from a real professional.
There is no point in worrying about it truly, because you have no risk at all.
The fact is, you can kiss a person with HIV all you want, and never be infected.
Your anxiety about it is worrying me though, i know how scary, even coming into contact with it can be, however you had no risk, but it still may be best you talk to a counsellor. There are usually counsellors in each community that strictly deal with std issues, and are very knowledgable about how to handle the anxiety of it all, even if you don't have it. It might be good to talk to a professional (who knows about std's and sexual issues) just to put your mind to rest.
But be careful with that though, i dropped into a drop in clinic, and got false information from a really stupid doctor, and that information scared me. Not all professionals know about stds and they will only tell you personal opinions, not facts.
Just so you know i am telling you facts, not just a personal opinion.
But there should be a place in your community that even deals with people who really do have HIV, and they should be able to help put your mind at ease.
Even coming in contact with it can be traumatizing, and counselling is the best thing for that. I really hope it gets easier for you, but knowing that you don't really have anything to worry about, makes me think you should deal with the worry. :)
And please be cautioned of getting information online. I know the real information because i went through it, but you can get a lot of false information.
I know you are fine!!!
Thanks a lot Sabrina. I have read on the forum (also, in nurse girls Journal entry) that 6 weeks test is a good indicator. If so, can I assume that it will be negative. I am really worried about testing.
Hello,
You have no risk at all!
I'm sorry you had false education about the HIV virus, it can be very worrisome!
HIV is not transferable at all through saliva. Saliva actually has components in it that inhibit the HIV virus, and the virus also dies out very quickly, so even IF there were sores, you wouldn't have to worry, also due to the fact your stomach acid can actually kill small quantities of blood infected with HIV. Good news for you, and please don't worry.
It is impossible to get HIV from just kissing someone.
You don't even need to bother getting tested, but if you still want to, it does take HIV 4-6 months to actually show up, so you will have to wait until then. Best to wait the 6 months. But seriously, you have nothing to worry about at all, i'm only telling you facts.
I was also in a similar situation, however i gave oral to a man who had HIV, and although the risk for even ingesting seamen, is low, i ended up not getting it at all. In reality, HIV is harder to transfer than something else like Hep C. Anyways, i know how worrisome it is, i was there myself.
