Zoloft and weight loss

Ok, since I started having bad anxiety three months ago and I started taking Zoloft a month ago I have lost 10 pounds.  Now, I have stopped lifting weights 3 months ago and stopped taking supplements.  That could explain 4 pounds maybe.... But, does Zoloft make you loose weight...I mean I have been eating like crap to put on weight.  Twinkies, Zebra Cakes, and other junk food... Not putting on weight.  Does Zoloft cause weight loss?

Antidepressants and SSRIs cause a wide variety of symptoms and everyone responds to them differently. Most experiences weight gain, but I've heard of several who lose as well. That being said, it is rare to notice such drastic side effects within the first month of using any antidepressant. It usually takes at least 2 months to notice a difference. My guess is that you've lost the weight because you're no longer lifting weights.
If you're looking to regain the weight, start going back to the gym and eating a healthy diet. Twinkies and Zebra Cakes aren't going to put on the kind of weight you'll like-- and definitely won't help with the reasons why you were on Zoloft in the first place!
Pairing complex carbs and protein together will accelerate muscle growth, so try to make these your staples at every meal. Be mindful and consistent and you will see results.

All the best.

Yes, weight loss can be a side effect of Zoloft.  Stop eating all the junk food, you're setting yourself up for future health problems.  Also, you may have lost some muscle mass due to no longer lifting weights.  If you continue to lose weight, contact your doctor about it.  Take care.
