Zoloft question

I have been on many different SSRIs for 15 years now for anxiety.  I was recently on Celexa, but switched to Zoloft 50mg last week because the Celexa was no longer working.  I've been on Zoloft before and have had good results except for one thing, which leads me to my question:

My throat feels like someone's hand is around it squeezing. It's very uncomfortable.  In my research, this can be a sign of anxiety, but why doesn't it do it when I'm NOT on Zoloft?  It didn't do it on Celexa.  My problem is that I like what Zoloft does for me mentally, but me being uncomfortable physically is almost too much to take.  A friend of mine said that her's did that on the lower dose, but when she increased the mgs, it stopped.

Should I decrease/increase my mgs or do you think it's just anxiety? Help!

It's been years since I've been on it, so I'm not sure about last time. I started out this time on 50mgs and it's only been a short time. The last 2 days, I've cut back to 25mgs and it doesn't seem to be as bad.  It's still there, but tolerable.

I have been on Zoloft for 13+ years and never had this side effect. Does this go away after you have been on it for awhile or does the symtpom stay?  Ask your doc before increasing your dose, as you know you have to do it in stages.  Whenever my doses have been increased / decreased it has been at 25mpgs per change and only changed 1 X per week, so my body can adjust.

Thank you for replying. I could try a different med.  I was on Celexa and it quit working for me, even after increasing my dose.  I have Xanax, as needed, but I don't like taking it unless I can sleep, as it zonks me out. I'm just so confused because I like the mental side of Zoloft.

I wish I had an answer for you.  I know some people can't tolerate side effects a second time around on an SSRI... that's not always the case, but maybe it is for you.  If your side effects are too bothersome I'd try to switch meds.  You say it could be from anxiety, but yet it goes away when you go off the med.  Makes me believe it's a side effect.  Could you try out a different med?
