I took at John wort and can say it really helped within the first week!
There are many natural remedies that help, though they don't replace counseling anymore than meds do. Pick up a book by Hyla Cass, a psychiatrist at UCLA, called Natural Highs. It's a bit old now, but is a good primer on doses and natural remedies for mental illness. You could also advise the person to see a naturopath. Keep in mind, the natural approach isn't the magic pill approach of medication, it's harder -- usually requires therapy, relaxation techniques, and a variety of remedies that target different areas of the body that affect mental health, for example, relaxants, adrenal support, and amino acids that help manufacture our neurotransmitters. Good luck.
definately counceling. Some people have tried counceling in the past and may be discouraged by their experience but that's probably because finding the right councelor for you is like finding the perfect shoe. Not all are going to fit, but if you keep looking you'll find one. This probably seems minimal but exercise/going for a walk works alot for me. They have always said exercise is a great stress reliever. I too have anxiety, has gotten better with age but still struggle. Good luck to your friend. If she is really suffering maybe she can just find out about meds, can't hurt.
good question, I will have to ask thanks
In my experience, the best way for any kind of help with anxiety is through counseling. Knowledge is a very powerful tool against this in my opinion. Does your friend have access to therapy?
