Oddly enough, that's when I experienced my first round with GAD/Panic Disorder.  It had gotten so bad that my parents took my to a psychiatrist.  He prescribed Xanax (I can't remember the dosage).  I didn't experience any drowsiness or strange side-effects (except for slight dry mouth).  I'm so glad they encouraged me to take the meds (I was scared to death that I'd become spaced-out or depressed).  After two years, I was weaned off...and everything was great.  Only now (some twenty years later) am I experiencing anxiety/panic again (following a series of horrific events!).

I wouldn't hesistate to ask for a referral to a psychologist/psychiatrist.  If administered properly, anxiety medication is extremely beneficial to people who suffer from anxiety disorders.

Good luck & I hope your daughter gets better!!!

There is a good book that is suppose to help those with all kinds of phobias and anxieties.  It is the anxiety/phobia workbook.  You can order it online at amazon.  That with a good therapist should help.  Maybe her doctor can give her a small tranquilizer to help with that horrible nausea?  Like klonopin?  I wouldn't suggest any anti-depressants at this time.

im 17 years old and i have an anxiety disorder. my doctor refuses to put me on medication unless it is absolutly necessary. anxiety affects me everyday, but although it's a constant battle, it's getting better slowly. i recommend getting a GOOD therapist. one that has HAD an anxiety disorder and has overcome it, because you really cant understand what it's like unless you've had it yourself. thats my advice, there is no need for medication. just hard work and dedication.
